  1. You could also wire it to a switch AND the reverse light. That way it will automatically turn on when in reverse, plus you can just switch it on anytime. You'd want to install a one-way resistor to the power tap from the reverse light so when you activate the switch it won't turn on that reverse lamp. I am about to install a backup cam to my F700bt and plan to wire this way.
  2. I might order one of these BB gateways soon and test it out. Streaming Pandora would be the next best thing to satellite radio.
  3. Whipped up a custom one for my Xterra. That's it at Brown Mountain OHV park near Morganton, NC.
  4. I don't use MSN either, would love to have a link to your version. But if not I'll be looking forward to the official release!
  5. Thanks for being so responsive to this thread. Will load v4 today and look forward to v5 when it's released. Take your time and thanks again!
  6. That's not true. I successfully connected my Droid X using mass storage mode and the AVIC was able to browse my 16gb microsd. Played a few songs off of it but didn't try video. If you are going to attempt this you should disable "charge by usb" in Android system settings so you don't damage the AVIC.
  7. Abb-solutely phenomenal work! I sure do appreciate your continued efforts to make improvements to this "ancient" piece of hardware. Since I've figured out the sd card I was using was corrupting files and putting all sorts of gremlins in my AVIC I'm ready to mod it again. I was about to download and install v4 until reading about v5...do you have an eta on v5? Thanks again man, and you should teach those amateurs at Pioneer a thing or two!
  8. Try a different sd card freshly formatted to fat32 and re-install the complete 3.1 firmware package. I was having the same problems due to a corrupted card.
  9. Try using a different sd card. Also make sure it is freshly formatted to fat32. I was using the same sd card for over a year and it appeared to be working. However it was secretly corrupting files during the transfer process leaving with error messages and reboots. I used another card, cleared the flash memory, and re-applied 3.1. Now everything works perfectly!
  10. Well after much trial and error and trying to copy of multiple versions of files, I've concluded the SD card I was using to flash was corrupted. Somehow it was read and formatted by my Win7 PC with no problems. However it would corrupt the files during the transfer process to the AVIC. I borrowed the SD card my friend uses to flash his and everything works fine now...I can even connect my Droid X via BT and successfully loaded my contacts! I haven't used those functions in a year because I didn't realize the SD was corrupt, thought I had a bum AVIC. So I guess the moral is if you are
  11. I applied the 3.01 update found Here and installed the 2010 maps. When I pair my DroidX running Froyo 2.2 the above error message alerts about Tel.exe. I've tried replacing that file with one from another software version with no results. I've tried to delete the pairing and start over. After I enter the PIN and it connects then it requests phonebook access from my Android. That's when the AVIC crashes and reboots. Is there another file associated with this pairing/phonebook process other than Tel.exe that should be replaced? How can this problem be present since I just did a fresh format,
  12. I get the message "Update failed" in red, bottom center. Haven't been able to get into testmode since the last tweak which applied 3.1, 2009.6 maps, nav warning screen disable. Any ideas to get around this? UPDATE: Used another card and was able to complete Update SD Format. Upon rebooting into the language selection, I get an error screen reading Fatal Error... and it gets stuck in a bootloop. Trying to track down the culprit.
  13. I'm getting it now and when it's finished I'll seed.
  14. I installed the 3.1 update just fine, along with Abb's v3 mods. Now when I attempt to make/receive a phone call the unit partially freezes giving me an error about the "Tel" file. Testmode also won't work, it keeps getting stuck in a "bootloop" of sorts. I've tried several different types of testmode. My question is, can I use these instructions: 1. Insert SD card into AVIC and turn it on. 2. When the pioneer logo comes up, press and hold the menu, map, eject and the reset buttons at the same time. When your screen goes completely blank, let go of the reset button but continue to hold
