I'd say do all your "add-ons" at once. this way you only have to rip your dash apart once. And the wire bypass as well. It won't hurt anything, and once you upgrade your Z2, the bypass will work and again, you won't have to rip your dash apart.

I think that this is exactly the problem. The Avic doesn't "pre-load" an mp3. It just waits until one song is finished and then goes on the the next. The delay is the Avic searching and loading the file from the HD. Not much you can do about this, I don't think. Pioneer would have to upgrade the software to load the next song into memory as the current song is playing. Try playing a bunch of mp3s in Windows media. Same thing happens. If I remember correctly, however, winamp is able to preload the mp3, so you can even put in a fade/mix.

Just installed the ND-BT1. Works fine with the Nokia N-gage. although you have to transfer contacts one at a time. I had a "secret" wire bypassable Z1. So I, naturually, assumed that it already had the Bluetooth upgrade. Nope! The way I understand it, up here in Quebec, the officer has to prove that you were actually watching the video in order to give you a ticket. So it's pretty tough to prove. Just the same, I'll only have the video on in the front if I have a passenger (and they want to watch a movie). That almost sounds like how a cop used to give you a ticket for driving with your lights on (obstruction of justice... yaddah, yaddah), even though it was safer. I guess when people get used to seeing TV screens in the back of cars everywhere, they won't be a distraction anymore.

I think that someone else had this problem here and it turned out that his vss wasn't connected properly. I think that there is usually a sensor wire that detects engine speed. Is it possible that your vss is connected to this wire by mistake? This would show you moving as long as the engine was running.

You should be able to mount the antenna inside and still get a good signal. Many people around here have mounted it in the dash (some right on the HU itself). The consensus around here seems to be that using the included "foil" is good, but using a metal plate is better. I don't think grounding the metal plate will make any difference as it is just reflecting the signal. I think that the hood, tailgate, or roof are probably equally good, as long as they are all fiberglass. You may want to avoid the hood because of heat issues.

It allows your Z2 to have a more accurate speed reading by using the same sensor that your speedometer uses. It will also let your Z2 know how fast you are moving when there is no sat signal (i.e in a tunnel or garage).

Outstanding! I don't believe you can do that. At least I haven't seen anything in the manual that says you can. Well, the Z's are, in effect, just computers with hard drives. As the hard drive gets fragmented, the system slows down. Chances are that your refurb's drive was already fragmented. The only way to defragment, that I know of, is to remove the drive, unlock it, and then defrag it using your PC software (Microsoft Degragmenter or whichever).
