same here im driving a 06 civic, ive grounded the p-brake wire, ive grounded the "green" p-brake wire, ive also grounded the mute wire, and ive also grounded the mute with the green p-brake wire, and nothing. ive had it where i grounded them got the video to work but when i turned off the car and turned it back on i got nothing. my next option is going to be the 4 pole relay. but all the stores are closed now! ill do the software upgrade later when the hardware option fails me.
i dont think you have to put anything into 87a.. from a post ive seen you only need 4 wires
