  1. I just downloaded it from the Pioneer website. I chose to then print it & Staples put a spiral onto it for me for about $5 and I keep it in the glove box. I've had to reference it often. Saves a lot of questions. Keep in mind it's 192 pages, I think, or somewhere near there. I printed 2 pages to a 8.5" X 11" page, then double sided it, so 4 pages to a sheet. Still took a lot of paper, but I like having it. I still think IDT should have his own forum for the x-series, or those who have the full 3.010100 update.
  2. Let me re-iterate. I did the WinCE fix from the 3 update only from the pioneer site. Sorry, I didn't even realize the full 3 was available yet. I do plan on purchasing the full upgrade. I'm only talking about the better button/touch speed. I did the APL folder transfer also, but again, sorry, NOT the full 3 upgrade.
  3. This afternoon I did the 3.0 update. I downloaded it from the pioneer site. Followed the instructs as on several threads, and I agree, yes the actions are faster. The screens that have the scroll bar on the side now scroll instead of having to tap, tap, tap. There may be problems, and some things are not the best, but overall, I think this is a fine unit. I love the fact that some enterprising individuals have found ways to make it better. Those who are still trying, thanks.
  4. And where might they be? What am I looking for? I have several mods working and am not afraid to try messing things up. I do have backups. Which files, or commands, am I looking for? Thanks.
  5. I've always just 'copied over' the files. It has so far, worked for me. Just letting you know my story. Hope it helps.
  6. I have an American address. Niagara Falls, NY. For a small fee, I could 'remail' your order to you. Just have it shipped to me, I could readdress the package, put new postage on it, and send it off. I don't know if Pioneer tracks how many go to one address though. I plan on placing an order for myself in a week or so, as it gets closer to being released and I know for sure we get it and it is as it says to be. PM me if this might help any of you. Harvey Gordon
  7. Thanks minifreezer. I've made the copy, now I'll go try it. Harvey G. Ok. It let me into the system, now what. I'm using a 2G sd card, but when I tried to copy 'My Flash Disk' to it, I received a message the file was too big. Can I just add (& where to) the files I want (I have them on my computer) to the sd and then how to input into the avic? I'm getting closer. And I do have to thank all you guys for it. IDT, BorisM, cmh, gtimatt, now minifreezer, and others. Actually there's more than I thought as I try to list them. Thanks all. Harvey G. I ended up making a folder on the sd
  8. Me again. Do you put just the files on the sd card, or the folder 'testmode' and the files then follow. I'm sure you don't put the testmode zip onto the card, but when I boot up, it just goes to the splash screen and stays there, like forever, so I just gave up. When I removed the sd & rebooted, most things worked, but the settings won't kick in, I get an error message. Nav still works, xm, radio, bluetooth, just can't set anything. I will put the 2.006 update back on as a reload if I can't find the solution, but I'd really like to go back to my former modded unit. Thanks. Harvey Gordo
  9. I'm with them. I've upgraded my unit to 2.006. I have the new testmode 2.3, but what do we do with it. How do we use it to get into, and change, our units. Any hints would be muchly appreciated. I had cmh's mod with some idt changes, the nav message gone except upon a cold boot into nav, reverse image on backup cam gone, speed & elevation signs on, branded poi's, and had fixed the xm icon issues (I see so does 2.006), and I'm sure more. I even had it not come on one time, but just kept prying into the forums and fixed it. I'm not afraid to try anything. I just haven't figured out what I'm
  10. I agree. You can MUTE the voice totally, but I still want the spoken directions, just not as often. I don't need to be reminded to turn right in a half mile, a quarter mile, 400 feet, 200 feet, then take next right, then again take next right. Or another poor programming note, prepare to enter freeway in 1000 ft, then 400 feet, then enter. Once would be more than enough. THERE IS NO OTHER CHOICE. You must, once on the ramp, enter the freeway, highway, or whatever. Samantha interrupts the radio to tell me what she has already told me. So, to repeat their question, is there a mod to LESSEN her c
  11. I just want to say thanks. It's a nice option to have all the logos show up. The system has all this potential, yet stupid little things like this aren't taken care of by Pioneer. Thanks for making my unit more enjoyable by doing what it's suppose to do. Thanks again. Harvey Gordon
  12. I tried it. So far, it works as FourG has said. I have no probs, all is well, & no nagging nav mess except on cold startup if already on the nav screen. Love it. Thanks Carver, and all the others who are working on these things. Just letting you know it works for me, and I like it! Thanks again. Harvey Gordon Now if we can just figure out that last piece of the puzzle to get rid of it altogether....
  13. I just called their toll free number, gave them my 20 digit code, and the charge was $101. Why the extra $, I have no idea. Maybe a state communications tax or something. The point is, it was working 20 mins later, & still is. $100 now for lifetime. Can't wait for the upgrade to get the other 3 msn channels. It must be hackable though. I'm NOT putting up with that parking brake message EVERY time I start my car. Harvey Gordon
  14. N-S-E-W Thanks for the input. The nav sys is set up for New York State as the regional settings. The gps would tell the unit I've entered canada. I was hoping for an autoconvert for the speeds. But thanks again for looking and considering possibilities. Harvey Gordon
  15. I also, say "Thanks guys." I love the mod, it works great, & looks better than the oem. Just a note though. THe canadian speeds are in Kilometers. Since the newest mod, the limits show about 80% as the speed (a 100k hwy shows as 80mph), this is NOT correct. About 60% would be more correct. A 100k hwy is 62.5mph. A 50k is therefore 31.25k, or 30 would be close enough. Just thought you should know. But I really do mean thanks for the mods. I think they're great. Harvey Gordon
