  1. I have not received my rebate and it has been exactly 2 months now. I swear I absolutely HATE rebates the amount of time it takes is absolutely obsurd. Mine has been saying accepted and ready for finaly processing now for basically 2 months. Thanks for posting that number I just called the number and left a voicemail for Kent with my information. I will post back with what happens with mine as well. James
  2. You guys complaining about the bluetooth sound quality when talking on your phone.....Have you ever consideredf that it was the install or the location of the microphone? I installed my X920BT a couple weeks ago and every person I have asked while using my bluetooth says it sounds aboslutely perfect!!! Infact my wife says it sounds much better than my OEM hand free bluetooth in my 2007 Acura TL-S. Granted I have the X920BT installed in my 2000 Lexus ES300 which rides incredibly quiet inside so maybe that has something to do with it but I am VERY happy with the X920BT's bluetooth handfree...an
  3. Do the update its worth it!!! Before the update voice recognition was as good as useless. Not a single voice command would work I got more than frustrated with it. I just performed the update a few days ago and low and behold voice recognition works flawlessly each and every time now Im happy! James
  4. ok I figured it out and yes my Avic took the update. One thing I noticed for sure was voice recognition works a lot better. Before it was almost 100% useless never worked ever now I tried it and worked perfectly first try. Sweet! James
  5. I thought it was confusing because it said if your version is before 2.000 so I was confused if that includes 2.000 or not since the update is 2.012 or whatever it is. Second confusing thing is where it says to press and hold top left corner in that one specific menu. I did that in several different spots in that top corner and it didn't do anything.
  6. I was a bit confused by the instruction that Pioneer posted as they are a bit shady on when your unit is out of date. From what I read I think mine is the most current software but I just wanted to ask here to be sure. I just got my unit a couple weeks ago and in the menus it says my version is 2.000. So does this mean the latest Pioneer software update applies to my unit or is 2.000 the latest version? Thanks, James
  7. Wow thanks for the writeup morton10. I am glad I decided to go with the 5510 UPS tracking shows it arriving friday cant wait!! I was gonna go into detail myself about some Pioneer nav nightmares but there was too many. Ok so I will tell two stories I have lol: First was when I was in job training in Oklahoma City (home is in IL). I was simply routed on a highway and I followed the instructions to get off at an exit. At the bottom of the offramp you could either simply turn left or right. My destination was about 2 miles to the left and for god knows what reason the Pioneer nav told me to tur
  8. I am selling my 05 Grand Cherokee which I tried to get the factory parkview back up cam system to work. Since the option was not available in 05 model year I had no luck getting it to work. Since I have that camera and it is doing nothing I am curious if any of you would know how to get this cam to work with an aftermarket nav. Im guessing all the aftermarket units simply use an RCA input for the cam. This OEM camera has a 4 wire harness. How can I convert this to work with an aftermarket unit? here is the diagram of the harness that comes out of the camera... Thanks for any help James
  9. Thank you very much MisFit that was the kind of feedback I was looking for to compare the benefits of each.
  10. Well 5 minutes is a bit of an exaggeration either that or you were routing from NY to CA or something. My buddy says his AVN5510 loads route very quickly. Either way if a route loads in 10 seconds compared to 5 I dont care. Also, Eclipse does make units with hard drives this is one of the reasons the 5510 is a couple hundred less than the Z1/Z2. I just figure might as well give Eclipse a shot especially after I have experienced some pretty poor nav routing with my N1/N2 and the D1. Hopefully Pioneer fixed these problems with the Z1/Z2.
  11. Thanks for the input. The lack of a hard drive and single DVD slot does not bother me as I dont watch DVD's and simply dont need the hard drive. I wish the same thing I have yet to see a Eclipse unit on display anywhere so its kind of hard to play around with one before buying. A friend of mine bought the 5510 and he absolutely loves it. I cant wait to get it should be in on thursday and I already have all the parts I need for the install. I know this is a Pioneer forum but I will report back with pics and my first impressions. Anymore input is appreciated. Thanks, James
  12. Hopefully the mods wont move this to general section as it doesnt seem much activity goes on there. Anyway, I have been a long time Pioneer nav user I have had a total of four of their units starting all the way back with the N1. I just purchased a 00 Accord EX V6 Coupe something that I can just drive and get good fuel economy in. It has a perfect double din slot and I obviously want nav. I wanna try something besides Pioneer and have always liked Eclipse. I ended up purchasing the new AVN-5510 7" nav last night. I know this forum may be biased towards Pioneer products, but does anyone have an
  13. Just purchased a 00 Accord EX V6 coupe as a more fuel efficient mode of transportation. All my other previous cars have had nav so im looking to upgrade. Just looking to see if anyone has pics of a Pioneer double DIN nav in a 6th Gen Accord. Also, any tips that you may have is greatly appreciated. Thanks, James
  14. Yeah I think there is some false info being told in this thread. You will NOT get full functionality by simply toggling a switch after the unit has booted up and turned on. If you want full functionality all the time you must solder the two points together. I did mine yesterday took 5 minutes at most (decal came off perfectly with heat gun) and you are done. No toggle switch will be needed and you wont get that stupid improper parking brake message at startup every time. Just do it and be done with it. JT
  15. Sorry to scare you so much about the avics I didnt mean to. I absolutely love the unit (besides most of the nav features), and it has GREAT full colored mapping. I am currently using the N3 software in my N2 so yes the N3 is not perfect as far as the navi goes. If you stay away from using vicinity search and dont mind the occasional long stroll through a neighborhood for no reason then you will love it.
