  1. Mine doesn't re-route worth a crap. They're re-doing an intersection here, and have actually dismantled a ramp. The D3 correctly reports the exit is blocked, but sets a route through it anyway. Then it pops up and says "Exit blocked". I say re-route. It does nothing. Rinse. Repeat. F'n Useless! What's the point to this traffic data?!?!
  2. Well... initially I wanted the trim plate to be a 'plate' and paint matched to the rest of the console. Instead, they made some thing out of fiberglas and covered in a 'vinyl to match the leather'. Well... not what I wanted. Doesn't look 'bad' per se, but I really wanted to retain as STOCK a look as possible. This screams aftermarket. I take delivery of the car, (4 days late mind you) and it's not even as loud as my factory stereo (and doesn't sound as good). This install included all new JL speakers, JL sub, and 2 JL amps. Should be better than stock. Also, the sub box keeps bumping aroun
  3. Hi, I recently had a D3 installed in my Porsche Cayman S. Pics of the install are on Caymanclub.net (I use the same username there). Anyway, there were several problems with the install. Thanks to some of the members here for helping me diagnose the problems. I'm pretty unhappy with my install shop (Custom Car Stereo in Houston), so here is a copy of the post I left on Caymanclub. I'm at work now, but will come back with some pics of the install when I get home.
  4. If the iPhone supports audio over bluetooth... it will be awesome. D3 already supports, so it's ready to go.
  5. Jeez, even the GM factory Nav in my Corvette was better than this. Sometimes I want to punch in 'Home Depot' and see where the closest one is. If it's not within 5 miles, I don't think the D3 can do it. Booo.
  6. yeah, it's kind of unintuitive, given that the XMTRFC button is in the bottom right ... the answer buttons pop up in the top left.
  7. Is it Verizon? Seems like it's a Verizon phone for the most part. However, given Verizon's reputation for crippling their hardware, I'd like to make sure that if I pick up a Verizon, it'll do the transfer.
  8. Does anyone have any idea what the cheapest phone out there is that can transfer the full phonebook across? I want to buy one on ebay, and not actually use it for phoning, just to carry a bunch of contacts from my computer to the car.
  9. I recently had a D3 installed in my Cayman, and I'd like some backgrounds for it. Of course since I'm such a picky b*tch, I'll gladly throw $10 into a paypal account for someone who can make me some cool backgrounds (not $10 for everyone who makes one btw - just whoever can best fill the bill). Anyway... basically, what I'd like is something that looks really, really factory like. Nothing too busy like a pic of my car or something. More logo based. Was thinking maybe the Porsche wordmark tiled across gray like this: Porsche Porsche Porsche sche Porsche Porsche Porsche Porsche Porsche
  10. Hmmm, some guys on Caymanclub.net are indicating that there MAY be a speed sensor wire available. If not, is there an english source for this canbus adapter?
  11. Great. Anyone know where these wires are on a Porsche Cayman S? (I'd like to at least give them a hint rather than have them root around for it)
  12. I recently had my D3 installed by a local shop. I don't think it's working that well, but before I take it in, I want to make sure I've at least got my problems straight so I can tell them what they did wrong. 1. Unit does not dim with my lights. Also, when headlights get turned on, the map still stays bright. VERY annoying at night. Under Hardware info or something, I found the field: "Illumination -- Off". Can I assume they just didn't hook up that wire. 2. Nav is crappy at placing my vehicle. Frequently lags behind where I really am. (i.e., map says I'm crossing intersection X, bu
  13. Now that everyone's got their shots in about the 'theft deterrent' aspects... I still think the unit might look a little cleaner without the logos. Anyone tried the mild solvents listed?
  14. I'm curious too. My car has a mic built in (for people who get the nav/phone system). I want to tap THAT mic. It's nicely integrated and installed into the steering column. Is this generally possible? Does it vary car-to-car?
