  1. I didn't want to post until I'd made some progress but I thought I'd let you know I'm giving this a shot. I've written source code for windows mobile that'll read the data from a blue tooth OBD scan tool. The code will be very easy to port to CE 5 but I'm going to need some sort of bluetooth manager first so I can establish a connection between the AVIC and my OBD tool. I'm going to spend some time this afternoon looking around - I'll post more if I get anywhere.
  2. Ok that was easy. Thanks everyone - 3.01 installed without a hitch. For anyone having problems - I used 7zip to unzip the update. And for those wondering if its worth it - I haven't used it much yet and the list of updates isn't that big but when it comes right down to it - its replacing almost 400 meg of files, it must have at least a few worth-while upgrades/fixes.
  3. Gotta contribute somehow This forum has an amazing amount of info.
  4. 1. As nipLVII said its not a big deal. Think about all of the dash mounted GPS units sold - they work fine and I've had no problems with my F700BT. Its pretty quick to lock in a GPS signal so tunnels really aren't an issue. 2. You've mentioned you're farther along in the install but I'll answer anyways. A wiring harness plugs into the stock stereo connector and provides labelled leads for power, ground, speakers, remote turn on, etc. Its a MUST for any install. If for no other reason it saves you from having to hack up the OEM wiring (which usually isn't properly labelled or color cod

    Goodbye

That's exactly it. I had an Eclipse 3424 before the AVIC and the deck was great at what it did. Eclipse makes great products but there was no way I could get anything feature comparible for what I paid for the F700BT. And the beautiful thing about the internet is you can read reviews before you buy....and these decks are great for the money even without mods/hacks.

    F-Series Wiki

I was poking through the Wiki which has some great info but I noticed there wasn't anything for the F-Series hardware specifically so I started filling out the F700BT page. Just wanted to make a quick post in case anyone wanted to add/correct the info. You could probably copy/paste some of it for the other models. http://avic411.com/wiki/index.php/AVIC-F700BT I also added a page for the F7010BT. I swear its not a typo, its really how they label the french version in Canada - I can take picture of the manual if anyone wants proof. I thought this would be a good place to but inf
  7. Who hacked 2.0? And maybe we should get some technical information posted here and see if we can make some progress.
  8. I'm just curious what percentage of people have 3.01 working smoothly. I've installed 3.0 on my F700BT and it runs great. I just wanted to know if a lot of people are having trouble with 3.01. Thanks for voting.
  9. Since that didn't work why don't you just try installing 3.0 again from scratch? Effectively the update does 2 things, updates Windows CE (the OS behind the software) and the software itself. Updating CE is always a good thing and you know the 3.0 files work (works great on my F700) so its probably your best option at this point. And of course select the option to format when updating CE. At this point I really don't see how you could make it worse. Good Luck!
  10. Thank you very much! Just upgraded my F700BT to 3.0 ... it was a smooth process. Took almost an hour including backup. And yes I formatted when I updated Win CE. It worked great with one SD card. You don't need to erase the files in step 9. Just copy everything on before you start. (CE image files, Flash Disk Contents and TestMode) It found my phone right away, keep my custom splash screen and the GPS still works great. 3.0 as everyone else said is MUCH faster.
