  1. I have an F90 and I remove a state map & yes, I have replaced some with Tom Tom and have no issues. I am also running Daftia's mod. hg
  2. Thanks idt. I've been watching for some updated maps. You're the best. hg
  3. The PAC-TR7 is the way to go. I use this with no problem (I also use more than one for other things as well). As mentioned, the manual looks daunting, but you only need, power, ground, and your switched wires, and you can switch 12V or ground (blue or brown wires). Think through the programming. Read it until you understand it and it's actually quite easy to do once the light bulb goes on in your head. Try it a couple of times and if you goof, just start over again. You probably can't hurt the PAC unit. If I remember correctly, I used program 6 (but don't quote me). You can also use a rela
  4. Again, this is only a suggestion. I can't guarantee anything. I had to do a 'flash disk' reflash one time a year or more ago. You will need a copy of the working 'flash disk' (hopefully you made a backup when all was well), and I totally deleted the file "My Flash Disk" and reinstalled the original. No probs since. Only a thought, but hope it helps your situation. hg
  5. I'll second that! It's a great mod in my opinion and I appreciate any news and follow-throughs. Diaftia, thanks for stopping by. hg
  6. I don't know your setup, but the yellow wire will go directly into the Avic. The red does also, but is switched through the key. Don't use this one. I used a 12 guage, but I think it might be overkill. I just wasn't taking chances after going under the hood and dash. Again, good luck. hg
  7. Just my thoughts. I would do a search (google or ebay) for a PAC-TR7 and install it on the yellow power wire of the Avic. hg
  8. I find it hard to believe the e-pass is the culprit. I'm more inclined to think it's a computer (running Windows CE) and decided to glitch. In a similar situation, I totally deleted 'my flash disk' from the IGO, and then reinstalled my backup (or the original should also work). My backup is a complete flash disc file. Everything since has worked fine, more than several months. Give it a try and good luck. Hope this helps. hg
  9. A constant reboot could be a voltage problem. This unit is very voltage sensitive. I ran a heavier gauge wire directly from the battery to the YELLOW wire of the Avic. There have been no reboots since. Just a thought. Hope it helps. hg
  10. Thanks Ron for picking up the gauntlet. I haven't been on the forum too much lately. The PAC TR7 is the way to go. Because it is solid state and programmable, it can do so much more. I am now using this for other things as well. Thanks for finding it. For the price, it's already made up, no DIY required. My system works for me (and I DID run a new fused 12V (and 12 gauge)line direct from the battery to the yellow - so now no rebooting for no reason), but now I wouldn't do it. Thanks for finding the PAC unit. hg
  11. With over 1200 posts, I'd say you have contributed a whole lot. I also thank you for your latest mod. I finally have a unit I am pleased with and have been doing little to change it. It's great. Thanks for your help and guidance along the way. ...And congrats on the new addition. All the best to your future. hg
  12. You might also try to turn off the "Keep Position On Road" setting. I found this to grab the road it thought I was on. Since I've turned it off, I also don't have map 'spins' at sudden stops (from the auto gyro still going). Also, when in a parking lot, with the setting 'On', it tries to put me on the nearest road. Setting 'Off', leaves me in the parking lot. Just my thoughts. Hope there's some help there. hg
  13. Just a thought. Are you 'subscribed' to it? I have the MSN version, but had to subscribe to the service to get it to activate (a couple of years ago now). I'm thinking it's the same with the TMC. Just a thought. hg
  14. Glad you found a solution. And thanks for finding a $20 relay to do the trick. I had found one, but it was a commercial unit for fire trucks, etc, and it was in the $80 range, so I went to my solution. (...and actually I added a second capacitor to get a 6 sec delay, but that's another story). Hope it all works out for you. Glad to have (I hope) helped. hg
  15. It was just a 'maybe' thought, but doesn't sound like it. What I might try is to hold in the reset button for 5 seconds, then see if that cures it (you will have to reset everything, but only once if it works). The reset button is in the top left corner of the unit. You will need something small to get it (like a toothpick or similar). Anytime I've had probs, I use a reset and everything has seemed to be okay afterwards (except the aggravation of haveing to put all my own settings back in). Past this, I'm sorry, I have no other ideas. Good luck. hg
