  1. I ordered one of Garret's 60gb HDD last week. The drive arrived from Texas on time, and in perfect condition. I picked up a Kobalt size 0 phillips screwdiver ahead of time from Lowes. I followed the instructions that Garret included in his email to me confirming the shipment (next morning). It took about 15 minutes, I had no issues with the screws, they came right out. The drive installed smoothly, booted up without problem and updated everything. When it restarted, I noticed the Pioneer screen said 2008. That was cool since I bought this Z1 in 2006. Everything worked great, th

    LG Dare

Even though its the wrong section, as far as Dare an Z1 goes, works like a charm.
  3. I'm waiting for any replies here too. This would be the only reason I would upgrade at the current cost. I always leave the voice muted on mine when navigating, and the unit is wrong so many times, I don't trust it anymore. still, it's a nice unit overall.
  4. My bluetooth works perfect, no complaints from anyone I've called (and I've asked). I have had problems with the steering wheel interface though (intermittent).
  5. Ummmmmmmm, and exactly why were you "popping out windows and disabling alarms"!! Do you have a "past" we should know about about??
  6. Wow, great job JOSHS! You really came thru and saved a Bro alot of $$$. Nice job! Kudos!
  7. That's an easy fix. Just install the upgrade discs from the new Z2 that came out a few days ago and it will fix the flasher issue. But there were posts about people who had already installed the Z2 update discs on their Z1's, and it disabled their AM radio band! Strange but noone knows why this happens or how to fix it. Yeah, I read that in the new Z2 section (the private, members only forum). I called Pioneer and they are gonna send me the update disks for free. They said they are free only if you call the special members only number and give them your Z1 access code by midnight to
  8. Dang DOUBLE DIN thread jackers!! This is a NEWBY Gracenote Update thread. Your gonna confuse all the NOOBS!! LOL!! J/K!! Now, what was that about the update disabling my bypass?? I also noticed that after the update, my emergency flashers kept coming on??
  9. This is kinda what I figured. How about completely black tinted windows. I just have to pay off the cops in the area not to ticket me..
  10. Hmmm, okay, I'll look around at some of the specs and features. I have the Ford alarm, which is pretty sensitive, as if I even bump the side mirror, it goes off. I also already have lojac, but that does me no good on a smash and grab. I'm trying to figure out if it's woth the $$$$??
  11. Just as an FYI for newbys (like me) getting their stuff up and running, I had a couple failures trying to do the GRACENOTE update after downloading it from the net. My experience was that it would update to about 23% and then die from an error. Of course, I panicked thinking it would corrupt the database, but it didn't. Anyway, it turns out, at least for my unit, it didn't like the HP CD-RW or another off brand I tried. I bought some new Memorex CD-R's and copied the same downloaded files using Sonic to burn them onto the disk, and it worked fine. Took about 20-30 mons to update the
  12. I won't be able to take mine into the shop until next week, but I drove to work tonight and it worked perfectly?? Very Strange, I know...
  13. Damm, $1,995.00?? I can't believe they would drop the price on a unit that is just coming into production. Thats great news for you. I hope they put the upgrade disks out soon for the rest of us.
  14. Maybe a bit off topic, maybe not.... I'm still looking for a Z1 cover of some type, but was also wondering what type of alarms are the best on the market right now? Anybody have experience in what is working best these days, brand and feature wise? Thanks!
