  1. No, either way. I've always had TouchID. I have my phone plugged into the console, so unlocking it either via fingerprint or passcode is highly inconvenient. It also makes zero sense as a security feature. Is a thief with a Carplay system going to steal my locked phone just so he can plug it into his own Carplay system and access nothing but my text messages or music?
  2. This is actually a significant change, some of us are required by Exchange policies to have a passcode and having to constantly unlock the phone every time you plugged it in was incredibly annoying.
  3. They do control what is available in the sense that, they don't have to approve your implementation of Carplay with your app update. And Carplay itself is a part of iOS. But creating a Carplay interface for an app is done by the developer. For instance, if I create an email client app, and decide to create a Carplay feature for my app that lets the user scroll through all their emails on the car display, Apple will probably reject my app update because letting people scroll and read emails via Carplay would be considered unsafe.
  4. Yep I know - I was just making sure everything related to Carplay works fine when doing this, and whether or not there is any improvement to Carplay performance.
  5. I'm an NEX4000 user, and just had a quick question. I understand BT audio does not work, if all you ever use is Carplay, does everything work normally there? And does Carplay work any faster/better than it does on 1.08 on a 4000?
  6. Adding a patch to enable this would be the right thing to do, but has Pioneer ever gone back months down the line to add a feature to already released head units? I can't think of a case.
  7. I also rebooted the phone the first time nothing was happening. I will try again when I leave work, was just kind of odd that nothing at all was registering/happening.
  8. It's an iPhone 6Plus with 8.1 installed. As far as I know I'm connected to USB1, I texted my installer and he said he always plugs into USB1.
  9. Carplay is not functional at all for me. I did the update, and when plugging the phone in nothing seems to have changed. I only have the same old options as far as HD Radio, or iPod function. No Carplay logo on my phone either when plugged in. What am I missing? is there a secret piece to enabling it?
  10. Link just goes to an error page.
  11. What makes you think this includes Carplay in any fashion? The link specifically calls out App Radio. I think a big part of the hold up is iOS 8, and it will be released with full iOS 8 compatibility due to timing IMO.
  12. I have a 4000NEX and I occasionally can hear static.
  13. Yeah I think at this point either we will see it tomorrow, or it pretty much kills Pioneer's argument that Apple has been holding it back. If it's out for one manufacturer, it's out from their standpoint.
  14. Ha - I'm not a Pioneer employee. I think it sucks just as much that the update isn't out, since I really want Carplay. I'm just pointing out that if they had never given a timeframe people would just be bitching about that.
  15. This is why companies like Blizzard famously never give any timeframes, they just say it will be ready when it's done. Lots of issues can come up developing a big update like this, and Carplay is something of an entirely new product for Apple. If they wouldn't have given the summer timeframe, people would be complaining that they never gave a date when it would be released, and whining that it's vaporware.
