  1. Anyone?

    ---------

The F500 update looks like it updates the AVIC s/w and iGO s/w only. It does not contain any firmware (WinCE) update. I will download the x710 update and check the contents. But I don't think you can use the s/w update without firmware update.

  2. So far, I have not had any issue running EU firmware on my UC x710BT unit. I had one short road trip to seattle outlet last weekend. Everything worked just fine. AM/FM is working, navigation worked great. If you're worried about it, just use the firmware that's included in fx3.1 or other v3 dump. I think it's slightly older than one included in EU 3.020200.

  3. ndy4eva,

Since you are using european FW 3.0202 for a NA X710BT, do you have any problem with the FM/AM radio reception or Video visioning issues. I heard that european commands/ASIC board are different from the NA version, especially in the area of MSN Direct and TMC (you don't have this problem since X710BT doesn't support MSN Direct).

    Thanks.

No, I don't have any issue with AM/FM. Not sure what you mean by Vidion visioning issue.

  4. Strange ... I have the one from the FW 3.0, its size is 18,702,296 bytes (download from the link of this forum) and the other FW 3.0202 (european version), its size is 18,719,528 bytes (download from official Pioneer european website).

    Any thoughts???

f500 and f700/900/x710/x910 uses different WinCEIMG. One you're talking about is for f700/f900/x710/x910. :)

  5. It's quite interesting why F500BT behavies differently compare to other F-series or X-series units. I just installed x710BT for my wife's car and the Korean font stay even with every restarts. I'm trying to reduce the number of resets but sometime it's un-avoidable.

I used to this tool to add Korean fonts to WinCEIMG. Now, I don't have to worry about losing the fonts altogether. :D

  6. Hey, for some reason my update emails stopped coming to me so I didn't realize people were responding on here. I'm glad you've had success updating the images to add Korean fonts! I will try to maintain this tool and provide support for it as much as possible. I think, though, that there should be a new thread or another separate effort targeting the collection of OS image files so people can use them with this tool.

I think I'm going to slim down a registry (remove all those extra modem driver entries) and include it with the tool. I'm kind of wondering if the registry between the different units is any different. They very well could be the exact same thing. The only other way would be for the tool to provide an option to seek out known "unused" sections of the registry and remove them. I'll post an update when I get this working...

The WinCEIMG that you're using, what's the size of original bin file? I'm not so sure if I have the latest version.

  7. Where did you find these brightness settings? I'm having issues w/ my seating position, the angle of my deck and the picture becoming too dark sometimes. I wish someone would write code to add changes like this into the menus.

Just hold down the map button and it will bring the brightness control menu. There isn't any contrast configuration.

  8. Another thing I noticed with x710 is that audio source volume is different depends on the source (CD, MP3 (USB and SD), FM, and AM). CD is the loudest, so I adjusted with HLA(?).

Also, the system sound volume differs MP3 (USB/SD) vs CD/FM/AM. I think it's due to WinCE handling the multiple WAV/MP3 playback (system sound & MP3).

Oh well... overall it works great. I'm pretty happy with it.

  9. I used the latest from Pioneer UK.

    http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/support/sof ... download_7

It worked without any issue at first trial. I'm pretty happy with it.

So you extract the WINCEIMG.BIN and WINCEIMG.CKS files from the zip, then mod it with the tools of this thread?

I thought that Pioneer will require some kind of activation of something, unless the activation doesn't apply to the WinCE, but only the iGo software and maps.

    Can anyone confirm this?

    .

WinCEIMG doesn't have any activation. Just get the files PLT folder.

  10. Yes, I figured out late last night. I removed IE zone settings as I wouldn't be using any internet connection. :)

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\3]

It worked out great! Now, I don't have to worry about booting to TestMode to install Korean fonts. YaHooo!!! :D

Now, I have to modify x710BT WinCEIMG. :P

    Thanks, EEGeek!!!!

  11. Hi EEGeek,

I'm trying to add Korean Font to WinCEIMG and I'm not having much success with it. I have following registry entries and font file. It seems that total size was too big. Is it possible that you could help me with it?

    Thanks,
