  2. Here's a link to my post with the contents of the CD provided by Pioneer: http://avic411.com/index.php?/topic/26072-filesystem-access/page__view__findpost__p__199279
  3. I may be wrong, but I think Pandora Link gives you access to the Pandora One features free of charge. I think this because I've been using Pandora Link with a free Pandora account for a few months and have yet to hear a commercial. Also, the sound quality of Pandora seems to rival that of Sirius with the Higher quality audio setting set to on. I don't have Pandora One, so I may be completely wrong, but that's my thinking.
  4. I installed a Z110BT in my 2006 GLI back in December, so I think I'm pretty qualified to answer your questions. I've upgraded my unit, so I basically have a Z120. Here goes: - I have an iPhone 4, and it works pretty well. I've been really enjoying the PandoraLink feature lately, but it has some minor issues. The main one is that the phone will lose connection with the unit and will stop displaying the song info until the USB is unplugged and plugged back in. For some reason, I can't get the iPhone AVIC Feeds app to send destinations via the bluetooth, but I haven't looked into it really.
  5. I just wanted to post a quick update in case anyone stumbles across this thread with this same problem. It turns out that you have to make sure the AV1 Input setting is set to iPod for the sound to work over the iPod interface. I'm sure this is explained in the manual, but who reads those? Thomas
  6. Did you get this working? I was having the same problem, and ended up having to send my Z110 in for repair. Thomas
  7. VBLUE42, I appreciate all you do for this forum, but after that I don't think I'll be posting here again. Your rant has made it more that obvious that you're not interested in the opinions of the less senior members of the forum and that it's only your opinion that matters. I posted to this thread thinking that you may have a good suggestion, but just stating that I should have purchased an authentic Pioneer cable is what I would expect from Pioneer, not a group of enthusiasts as yourselves. I suppose I'll be contacting the seller and requesting a replacement, but perhaps some of t
  8. I purchased a cable from eBay and it matches the following picture identically. Obviously, it's a knock-off but it does have the 3 rings so it ought to do video. However, I'm actually having a problem getting it to play audio. Do you guys have any thoughts on why that may be? Thomas
  9. I think the only way to get this problem fixed is if we all call Pioneer and complain. I called the other day and was told that they have never heard of this problem and suggested that I do a factory reset on my Z. I tried that and also told the iPhone to forget the Z in the Bluetooth settings. After I re-paired the phone, the contacts still showed with the last name first. I made them give me a case number, and I'll be calling back to let them know that resetting didn't fix the issue, and it appears that the problem only appears with iPhones running iOS 4. Hopefully they'll fix it, becau
  10. This situation is unfortunate, since the iOS 4 update came out at about the same time as the Z110 update. Personally, I'm not sure which one actually caused the problem. Can anyone verify how the contacts are displayed in the version 1.00 Z110 software with an iPhone running iOS4? Last night, I attempted to downgrade to the 3.10 version of the bluetooth firmware, and it was immediately obvious why 3.11 was released. Most of the contacts had a few letters of the last name placed before the first name. For example, "John Smith" was displayed as "h John Smit". I immediately updated back to 3.
  11. Hello, I just updated my Z110 with the new firmware and maps, as well as the two bluetooth updates. Everything seems to be working well, except my contacts are now displayed with the last name before the first name. This also seems to be affecting the VR, as I pretty much can't get it to call anyone in my phonebook. Before the update, the VR worked very well. My phone is an iPhone 3G running iOS4. Has anyone elase seen this? Thomas
  12. VBLUE42, I don't mean to be rude, but would you mind removing the off-topic conversation between you and dawgbone from this thread? Thomas
  13. So I contacted Pioneer about their use of the open source 7-Zip, and was pleasantly surprised when I was told they would get me the files within a few weeks. A few weeks have passed, and I had a package on my door today. I've attached the contents of the CD I received from Pioneer in Japan. While I haven't tried messing with this yet, there are instructions for replacing the once file on the device. If we can figure out how the "script" works, then we may be able to replace any file we want. It has a TESTMODE.KEY file, so there's also the chance that putting it on an SD card and starting t
  14. If the firmware actually contains 7-Zip, then the LGPL license requires Pioneer to provide a means for the end user to update the version of 7-Zip within the firmware. So I guess the first question is: does the firmware contain 7-Zip?
  15. I recently purchased and installed a Z110BT in my 2006 VW GLI and I'm so far very impressed. However, there are definitely some changes I'd like to make. That being said, when I was reading through the manual, I noticed that the software is utilizing 7-Zip which is released under the GNU LGPL open source software license. Section 4e of the LGPL (on page 18 of the manual) states that Pioneer must: If my understanding is correct, we may be able to contact Pioneer and request the installation materials necessary for us to "install an updated version of 7-Zip" on our units. What do yo
