  1. Typically you'll need a kit of some kind to do any type of install. This isn't your standard HU that comes with your car. To make it as "factory fresh" as possible you'll probably need several things if you're doing it yourself. You'll need: Dash Kit Antenna Adapter Harness Adapter Time Patience Google Usually particular to your year/make sometimes to just make, the kit helps everything look like it really belongs. Unless your doing a custom car with a custom look at which point your SoL. The antenna adapter is b/c sometimes Nissan/Honda have antenna jacks that don't fit
  2. Thank you so much. It's a HUGE help having a bigger knob. Best part, it wasn't like those emails I get where i send off money and it's not bigger............... Thanks again Thomas
  3. Yea not having anything external hooked up will speed everything up considerably. My unit is up and running in about 30 seconds and if I leave in a CD it'll play that while I drive. All I have to do is plug in the usb thumb drive at a stoplight/stop sign/etc. and eventually it will look it up. Tedious...a little bit, but the instant boot is worth it imo.
  4. i am soooooooo ready to do this!
  5. Got my x910bt online from amazon via cartoys for $526.99 shipped. Also, i DID get my rebate and that check should be in the mail w/in the next week! So I'm EXTREMELY happy with this unit. After the rebate and selling my old HU, I'm out $328 or so. And the wife get's her TomTom back after 1 year.
  6. Just wanted to say "THANKS" because this thing is so frickin' awesome....but you probably already knew that. I'm enjoying playing around and just trying out different things, definitely a big improvement over the stock interface.
  7. The hardware bypass should work just right even with the newest update as mine is working and i got it last Monday . No clue on the software, i'm debating doing any mods...and by debating I mean trying to figure out what to add w/o getting in trouble . If I recall correctly, the only thing the hardware bypass effects is the built in restrictions that would not allow you access to the DVD/Nav unit w/o engaging the parking brake. in other words, those screens should be fine. I want to say that you can do videos in the back and music up front but i can't recall and i can't find t
  8. one thing you might want to check beyond the connections for the antenna is to make sure you didn't damage the line during installation. i about freaked on my install b/c i couldn't get anything to turn on and then silly me realized that I didn't plug the harness adapter into the radio after triple checking the bypass hack. but in a previous install we never got an amp working and couldn't figure out why until we literally unhooked it and searched the power line. it had rubbed itself raw where we worked it into the cab but we couldn't see it from the outside and it kept blowing fuses.
  9. Hey I know there isn't a way to turn off the units screen w/o disabling it the user options but you can turn it "off" so that just the time is displayed in the upper left hand side. Granted I did this w/o enabling the GPS so my screen was just blank but where you select DVD-SD-USB etc. just click OFF in the bottom right hand corner and it's blank-o. But i am surprised that there was not just a "Power" key worked into any of these units.
  10. I played around with several different units at several audio shops and settled on the X910bt. All in all i'm happy with what it is and what came with it. Plus this site helps me when i decide to "style" it lol. My opinion...go to an audio shop and see what/how everything looks in person. If you go solely off of the internet you won't know til you get it and sometimes, yea Just tell them you're checking some stuff out b/c you might have a tax refund coming in.....and to leave you alone. You can get it lower on Amazon. I got mine about 6 days ago for $526 w/shipping and had it
