  1. How can I make the GPS on my X910BT stop routing me to a location I have set? For example, let's say I tell it to "Go Home." Then I remember how to get to my house, and I want to have it stop telling me what to do. How do I cancel the route function?
  2. Well, you did get me to go through the manual again - and play around with the menues on the radio. I actually enjoy reading manuals - when they are readable and actually helpful. This one seems to be written in code. Thanks for your help. I'll be back when I have more questions. Jerry
  3. Like many manuals, this one could use the input of someone who can read and write. On page 155, there are directions for doing what W4RHWK says above. Even in that description, however, there is no mention of having the voice say the street names. Step 3 should say that here is where you can select a male or female voice and tell the reader that the female voice say street names. The heading is for "Selecting the language." I already had English selected, so that did not get my attention when I looked trough the manual. The whole description is for selecting a language. If W4RHWK hadn't
  4. Thanks, VBLUE42. You've been a big help.
  5. Since there is no mention of it in the manual, why should I read it - again? Apparently, this $1,000 unit cannot do what $150 units can do. I'll use my Garmin for a trip. Jerry
  6. The manual is even worse than the radio. With no index, it is difficult to find a specific topic. I used my pdf version of the manual and did a search for "street names." That term was listed three times: twice for MSN and once for setting the display to show street names or not. Then I did a search on "speak." Most of what I got was referring to speakers. There were a few references to speaking a command, as in voice command. No luck with "say," either. Once again, is it possible to hear the street names, and if so, how?
  7. All I could find under Regional are adjustments for display formats - date, time, etc. No way to make it say street names. Even cheap GPS will say the street names, so this should be able to do that. Jerry
  8. I tried reading the manual, but could not find anything about having it say street names. I hate this manual. The type is small and gray. When I find a section I want, instead of giving directions right there, it typically says, "Go to page 35 and read "Blah, blah, Blah." It would be nice to have the directions right under the heading, rather than have to go to another page. So, is it possible to have it say street names? Jerry
  9. I haven't been able to find a way to change the voice of my navigation system or to have it speak street names. Is either possible? Also, how can I stop a route that is progress, without starting another route? Jerry

    Slide Show?

I haven't gotten this done (yet?), but I know it's possible to watch a DVD (passenger, of course) while the car is moving. I did the handbrake bypass, but I'd have to change the wiring to make the car think it is standing still. If you do that modification, you would be able to watch a slide show from a CD. Jerry

    Slide Show?

Is it possible to load pictures into the X910BT via SD or USB and have a slide show on the screen? Also, it is possible to have a picture of my choice displayed on the screen, rather than the map or XM screen? That's such a nice big screeen going to waste. Jerry 2009 Nissan Cube catskillcam.com
  12. I have used several Garmin units over the years, and when I started using this X910BT, I was amazed at how inferior is it. It's not that it doesn't work or give accurate directions. It's just too un-intuitive to use. I never had to read a Garmin manual. With this Pioneer, even after I read the directions, I'm in the dark. For any serious traveling, I put the Garmin in its bracket on the dash. Jerry
  13. How, exactly, can I get to the pioneer.ini file to change the speed value so I can bypass the DVD restriction? I installed this AVIC-X910BT just recently, and I am not a not familiar with modifying it, although I did install a switch to ground the parking brake wire. With clear directions, I am sure I can manage. For example -- 1. Do this 2. Do that etc. Also, won't making this change eliminate the speed info that the GPs uses, making navigation less accurate? Jerry
