  1. Hi Guys, the only small solution to the op's question that I have found is that when you change the map scale to zoom in closer you get more street names on the streets showing. I normally use 0.1, or .25 on dense areas and get to see most of the street names, albeit in a small area. Not to hijack the thread, but I just posted a question in the troubleshooting section asking what happened to "Street View" on the x940bt, and the updated z110bt's The icon is now grayed out Luck to All--Semper Fi
  2. Hi Guys, I tried searching for this topic with no success. Before I upgraded my z110bt to the latest map and software update, I had a button in the map views screen called "Street View", when it was activated it changed the map view while following a route to a split screen with map on right half and the next 4 maneuvers listed on the left pane. After the update the "street View icon is now grayed out and even when a destination is set is not active=no street view. This is also the case with my new x940bt. Does anyone know what has happened to "Street View", or how to activate it again. I know
  3. Thanks for the info. And proud to have served with our nations finest. I solved the location issue. I moved the antenna from on top of the hu to a steel brace under the dash top a few feet to the right , next to the pass side vent. I did not use the little square ground plane, because it did not fit on the brace. The antenna sticks very well because of the strong magnet, and I zip tied it down for further stability. It is tight and secure, with nothing between it and the sky except plastic dash top, and windshield. It now regularly acquires no less than 8 to 10 sats. Has been very accurate no
  4. Hello Guys, I installed the x940bt in my 06 mustang conv. Everything is working great except for the gps function. I installed the antenna on top of the ground plane on top of the radio in the dash. The map position is way off, and I noticed I am only acquiring 1 or 2 sats most of the time. So I guess I will have to relocate the antenna with better line of sight. Any suggestions where any of you guys have had good results. And is the ground plane square all the necessary as it is now stuck to the radio, and I have no idea where to get another. Thanks, Semper Fi
  5. Hello Guys, just to follow up on this problem, the problem was in the usb/3.5 cable. Just on a whim after being told by the service tech from pioneer that it was a bad unit, I tried, [ out of desperation because I really didn't want to uninstall everything], a cable that I had from another unit, and it worked perfectly. So I dug out the old vohm meter, and found the wire inside the cable with no continuity, found the break, spliced it, put back the shielding, reinstalled the cable and problem solved. Everything works as it should, and the sound is fantastic. Off topic a bit, my only regre
  6. Hello Guys, I finally finished the install of the x940bt, in a 2006 Mustang. Every function works except the USB. I plugged an 8gb sandisk with mp3's in and the disk lights up like it is getting power, but the icon that is supposed to appear on the hu does not appear. I have tried 3 different drives, that I know work in other cars, one being a subaru with an avic 110bt, and they all work in all the other units. I called pioneer cust service and after doing a clear all user data, his conclusion was that it is probably a bad unit. Anybody here have any other possibilities before I go to the tro
  7. Hello again, ok, just to update, I figured out all the wire combinations to mate the scosche fdsr harness to the x940bt harnesses. It was simpler than I thought, as all the wires on the fdsr have written designations on the wires, needed a magnifying glass to see them, but they were there. There were a few that were different colors than the 940's, but the instructions clarified them well enough. I decided to add a pac wri-p, and the cd-r510 as well, but the wiring for the pac is simple enough. I have 2 questions left if there is anyone out there that can offer some advice. 1, if you do the b
  8. Hi All, I posted a similar question in Vehicle Specific section, but no answers so far, so I'm trying here. I am ready to install an x940bt into a 2006 Mustang, Shaker 500. I have the unit, along with a Scosche FDSR harness, and a Kollertron BU Camera. and a Scosche dask Kit. My main question is how to wire the FDSR to the 940bt's harnesses. I did a Z110bt a few years ago into a 2001 Outback, which worked out perfectly. But the FDSR is a bit confusing as it has 3 plugs and an interface and 18 wire ends to connect to the 940's 16, plus 6 rca's and a mute wire. I am sure I can handle the inst
  9. Hi All, A few years ago I installed an Avic z110bt in a 2001 Subaru Outback, and found this site of great value in setting me on the right path.It turned out great on the first try, and is still working great. I am now getting ready to Install an X940bt in a 2006 Mustang Gt Conv. I have the unit, along with the Scosche FDSR harness, Radio Antenna Adapter, and a Koolertron backup camera. From what I understand I should splice the scosche main 14 pin plug's open wires to the 940's harness going by color. The scosche fdsr contains 3 harnesses and an interface, Is there something I should be
  10. Hi All, I have one question at this time after using the z110bt for a few days now. How do you power off the unit without shutting the car off. What I mean is that with a normal stereo system you can hit a button and the system powers down and turns off completely. How do you do that with the z110bt. I know how to mute it, and also to turn off the av source, and even hold the home button to turn off the screen, but is there one button you can push to turn it off completely? Below are some of my other observations with the unit. Luck to all, and thanks. Had a few days since the insta
  11. Hi ALL, i just did the install of the z110bt yesterday as I posted in the mod/hack section. I was registering my unit on the pioneer site and noticed a new firmware notice dated mid may 2010. it is firmware update #1.001000. Anybody know specifically what the new firmware addresses. Thanks.
  12. Hi ALL, just thought I'd update. Well I did the z110bt install today-all day. Man I didn't think it was going to be so much work. I installed the BOYO vtl275 along with it. Did the bypass, and mounted the mic on the headlined next to the mirror. Monuted the GPS antennae on the center of the dash with the wire going down the crevice between the windshield and dash. Real neat install no exposed wires and looks like it came with the car. It took most of the day and eve because I had to take many panels off the car to run the wires for the camera. The rear view is very nice, clear, bright even at
  13. Thanks rgarjr. Thats what I thought. Appreciate the help. Now if I could only locate the vss on the 2001 subaru.
  14. Hi All, thanks for the replys. I managed to get another pin out without destroying it. I grabbed the rear video out white wire/pin, because I know I will never use that rca plug. This time I took a small model saw and cut the channel larger and the wire pulled out easily. It's actually a better wire to get out because it is between another slot from the same cable so if you go through the inner wall a bit it doesn't matter. I added a question to this thread, don't know if that is allowed on this board, but I thought it was better than starting another thread. I have the boyo vtl275 li
