  1. I oculdnt agree more. I wish I would have known the quality of the bluetooth was this bad prior to buying the unit. I would have definitely gone Kenwood over Pioneer. I cant believe they can sell a product with such poor quality bluetooth in this day and age. In my opinion, anyone who uses bluetooth and is looking for a new head unit I would highly recommend not buying a Pioneer.
  2. I have the same issues with the z120bt and I have tried everything to fix this including moving the mic. The bluetooth on these units flat out suck and for $1000+ unit it is simply unacceptable. The only thing that I have done thus far that has helped is to hold down the mode button on the unit while using the bluetooth. This will turn the screen off on the nav and it should clear up the bluetooth for you, it did for me. It removes the EMI (electro-magnetic interference). But again, I didnt pay $1000 to have to turn off my units screen each time I use my bluetooth. I called Pione
  3. I have to tell you that I just tried the suggestion about turning off the screen and it completly fixes my background noise issue. If I make a call, hold down the menu button and turn the screen off all of the background noise goes away regardless of where I place the mic. I wonder if there is a way to permanently fix this now because I would hate to have to turn the screen off every time I make or receive a call.
  4. I have been playing around with moving the mic all over the place and it is better getting it off the rearview mirror but I still here some interference or something everynow and again. I ran the bluetooth wire up the A Pillar and it is right next to the GPS antenna, could that cause interference with the bluetooth mic? Also, my voice sounds muffled and I an not sure why. Any ideas?
  5. Anyone else have terrible bluetooth quality with the z120bt? It is perfectly clear on my end but anyone I call says there is a ton of static which make the bluetooth not usable which is the main feature I use. I am considering returning the unit if I cannot find a fix to this terrible bluetooth quality. I have moved the mic everywhere and paired with multiple phones and nothing works. Great unit but the bluetooth makes this a complete dealbreaker for me.
  6. Thanks for all the help with this. Replacing the Scosche TA07SR adapter with the PAC-TATO worked perfectly and solved my hissing problem. What a piece of junk the scosche adapter is. Now if I could just figure out the static in my bluetooth that other people hear when I talk with my EVO.
  7. Thanks, I really hope I dont need to replace the Scosche adapter as that would be a nightmare. Scosche told me to re-tune the amp gain with the factory radio. Maybe I will give that a try as it is not as big a pain as replacing the adapter, although anything that require pulling this radio out and messing with it at this point is a pain.
  8. I have a 2010 Tacoma double cab with the JBL system and I recently installed pioneer z120bt head unit. I have two issues I am trying to work through and would appreciate any help. 1. I can hear a real faint hiss when I am driving and have the radio volume really low or am on the bluetooth. I notice it as I accelerate. I am wondering if this would mean the amp needs tuned (how do you do that on the JBL system??) or something with the ground. 2. I paired my HTC EVO with the z120bt and it is clear as can be for me, but the other party hears static when I am not talking. Any idea how
  9. Does anyone have any idea where the factory installed XM tuner is located on the 2010 Tacoma Double Cab with JBL? I have looked under the tool box in the back seat which everyone seems to mention but it is not there. I think it is in a different location on the JBL trucks. I want to get it out of the truck and installed in my 2007 RX350 since I just upgraded the tacoma HU and put in a new XM tuner. Thanks in advance for the help!!!
  10. I recently installed the Z120bt and everything seems to be working great except the option to transfer my contacts is grayed out. I have the Android Sprint EVO and the bluetooth is working fine but I cant do anything as far as transferring the contacts. Anyone help??
  11. Anyone have any idea how to bypass that stupid legal screen that you have to click "ok" on every time you turn on the car? I used to have this in my RX350 and even Lexus was smart enough to release a new version of the software that eliminated this acknowledgement. Any help is much appreciated!!
  12. I found that pin but since, from what I read, the VSS is not essential unless your in a tunnel or something like that can I just solder on a D-Sub connector to my HU wire and insert that into the #5 pin so I do not have to splice the factory wire for this? I know it may not be the most reliable but it should work. I did something similar to this to integrate my factory camera into this headunit. Thanks again for all the help
  13. Is the VSS necessary? I have the z120bt. I am not sure I followed your post as I am a newbie to this stereo install stuff but I am working my way through it pretty good. The VSS is one of my last stumbling blocks.

    TA07SR

I have a 2010 Tacoma with JBL and am using the TA07SR to install a z120bt and have a few questions. I have the red, yellow and blue white wires from the TA07SR connected to the respective wires on the z120bt but there are 3 wires left on the TA07SR (orangeOrange, Blue, and Orange/Black) I am assuming I should hook the orange wire up to the orange on the z120bt? But what about the blue and orange/black wires?
  15. I have a 2010 Tacoma with JBL and I am trying to install a z120bt and I need the location of the VSS (Car Speed Signal input wire) to tap into. Also, what is the best way to tap into the wire once found?
