Thanks CaptianinsaneO for the reply. I hadnt thought about the region coding or the freq issue. It all makes sense now. I really dont understand why there isnt just one system for worldwide use. It only makes sense from a business view point. One system to R&D, to market, and to manufacture. All I see is "$$$$" savings.

Does anyone know if a N3 Head will work with specifically X1R brain? Or any of the European hideaway modules? I've recently been assigned to Europe (Military) and have a N3 system and would like to continue to use it without having to purchase a whole new one, even though I probably should take the technology leap forward. Im just trying to be cheap. lol Thanks in advance!

Hello all Im new to the site and have had an Avic system of some sort for the past five years. Im in search of a unit I can use on both sides of the pond (US & EU) since Im in the military and now stationed in Europe. I really dont want to buy a new system just because of the maps and Im really hoping one of the new SD mapped systems will do the trick if I have too. Any help would be greatly appricated! BigL
