  1. You're not the only one. Mine will also jump around at times, but my biggest issue is how far off it is for turns. Turns can be anywhere from 50ft to 300ft off from when I actually made the turn. I mentioned this in another thread a while back, but even sitting at traffic light intersections, it will show I am a good distance back from where I actually am. My VSS is hooked up, and have checked that the speed pulse increase when driving. I did a full reset, also waited for the "calibration" turn lines to be completely full. I don't expect it to be exact since it is a commercial GPS, BUT the Z s
  2. I have mentioned about the calibration being off, and the older models having the recalibration as well. The map can be anywhere from 100ft to 500ft off at times, and my VSS IS hooked up, and all the data lines are full. After it once did a reset on it's own for no apparent reason, I have reset it myself to try to get the map calibrated with no luck.
  3. Make sure you read the Terms and Condition concerning the Privacy Policy, and the info they will collect and use from you if you decide to create an account.
  4. On a few occasions I have had to touch the cancel button multiple times to get it to work. I just thought perhaps I press it hard enough the first few times it happened.
  5. Yep glad it's working as well. However, I'm really curious as to why the map would do that, then the day after, the calibration data resets itself.
  6. I'll forgive you for thinking I'm a rookie at this LOL. But yeah that was one of the first things I checked. When I said "pulse" above, I was referring to the VSS, which then caused me to pull the deck to make sure all the connections were solid. It only did it that day, and has worked as it should since.
  7. So I was driving around yesterday, and I had the map screen up on the 8000, but not actually using it to navigate. I noticed the map paused, stuttered for a few seconds, then caught up to where I was. I shrugged it off as it possibly losing the satellites for the moment and DR'd the track. However, I was not in a covered area, the sky was clear, and this was not in some unusual area, as I drive on this particular road every day. Then it did it again, and really made me pay attention to the screen to see how often it was doing it. For approximately 5 miles, the map would pause and skip abo
  8. Yep already have that set...like tekkie and I said, it's the verbose level that you are talking about. It does get to be a bit annoying at times, especially when turns are very close together.
  9. If you're talking about the verbosity level of guidance, I already have that set to verbose. Otherwise, I have no idea of what advanced navigation instructions you are referring to.
  10. I agree it works and sounds great, very clear on both ends. I have a 5s.
  11. If the harness on the Z120 is the same as the Z110, no it is not as simple as unplugging and plugging it in. The plug is slightly different, as the fuse on the Z110 is in a different spot than on the NEX, and there is a piece of plastic on the Z's plug that sticks out to protect the fuse which will stop you from simply plugging it in to the NEX. If anyone has the Z120 they can chime in to confirm the plugs are different. However, if you did the wiring for Z120, wiring it up for the NEX is just as simple. I clipped and matched each wire one by one between the harnesses, the only difference
  12. Yeah I was hoping once the calibration lines were full, that it will have corrected the distance error, so I am giving it some time. It isn't too bad of an issue, but it does concern me that a newer units GPS is not as good as an older unit...for now. Otherwise, I love the NEX. The one feature that I really like is that it does not dim the unit when you turn the headlights on during the day, it will wait until sunset to actually switch the unit to nighttime driving. That caught me by surprise the first time it did it, as I was thinking something was wrong with the switch when I turned
  13. Yep, thought about that as well. I unplugged the old antenna, and instead of going through the trouble of running the new wire behind the dash, I ran the wire back out the front of the dash, with the dash kit left off so it wouldn't pinch the wire, and put the antenna on the metal pad on the dash to see if the results were going to be different...this was done right after the initial install, and test drive. That is how I came to the conclusion that the antennas were exactly the same. I did a 20 mile loop with it like that, and the distance that it was off was the same as the old antenna.
  14. Yes VSS is hooked up, I am getting the speed pulses, AND the speed readout is accurate on the NEX compared to my speedo, and several different GPS apps I have used to test it. I have the nav set to verbose so that way I get a far enough heads up when I am in an unfamiliar area to really start paying attention until I can get this figured out.
  15. Yes, I had an Avic Z110 upgraded to Z140 software, so it has the same GPS antenna, and pad, with nothing blocking it. I have also checked the GPS connection, and it's receiving either 12 or 13 satellites as I am driving around. The Z110 would only see 11, so I have somehow gained 2 satellites, but tracking is slightly off LOL.
