Wondering how did u get the lines for measurements on backup camera screen? Is there a mod or sth. I put up a 100 bucks one but the screen doesnt pop when reverse and it does not have the lines on screen either.

Camera came with the lines (I don't like them honestly)

As far as the screen not showing up, that is your wiring.

I drive for work right now and it kills me when the unit takes over a minute to start up!

Is this normal?

Found a bunch on ebay for a lot cheaper than best buy ($100)

Wondering which ones are compatible and how much the wires cost in case they don't come with the ebay listing.

I would also like to know WHERE to get all the wires needed if anyone knows.

Never had anything stolen from me, even car audio wise, oddly enough.

No security measures implemented at the moment.

I actually don't have the f700 secured at all so that my dash isn't ruined if someone DOES decide to take it.

I've seen people's dashes that had the head units secured with the bolt in the back, and it just causes the thieves to tear MORE of the car apart to get to it than is needed.

Having just discovered this section, I am wondering if I even want to keep the nice amount of car audio I have invested...

IF it's anything like the USB cable, you can find it for 1/5 the price.

$3 usb composite cables from ebay worked for me. $50 for pioneer? lol yeah right.

I also laughed at the guy at the car audio shop for trying to get me to pay $30+ for the 3.5mm cable IPBUS.

I made my own out of old USB connectors for a motherboard and it worked ALMOST perfectly.

It's amazing how much money these companies try to rip us off every chance they get.

The faceplate idea is GREAT. Seen it on some other ford forums.

That + just sitting some printed yahoo maps on the front seat also help.

Also, leaving anything in plain sight is a NO-NO. Watch, cell phone, GPS, mp3 player. Anything is bad.

If you have a sub/amp/box in the back, then it doesn't matter.

And I'm sure thieves will just check to see if the faceplate comes off and if it's a dummy if they get into the car.

I would say, with all this effort, have one good car with nice stuff that is garaged and locked down tight, and a cheap car or STOCK car that you leave un-attended with the doors unlocked. unlocked doors + nothing inside = no broken windows and nothing to be stolen. simple as that.

You guys have never heard of ear plugs I take it?

Not only that, but the info available in this thread along with others and I'm sure a pair of ear plugs + ear muffs would pretty much make this worthless

Probably just going to waste your time and money and end up causing permanent hearing damage to yourself.

lock your car. get insurance. get a cheap alarm that lowers the insurance rate. maybe try to get a company that doesn't ask how much the car audio is worth, straight forward so it doesn't raise your prices, etc.

What REALLY sucks about the f700bt is that the stupid USB cable makes it nearly impossible to pull the unit out when you aren't driving the car....I mean why not....wait, just thought of something!

You could bundle up the USB cable to the back of the unit and run an extension to wherever you want to have the end of the USB cable come out...voila! easily take your unit out at night or whatever.

i feel your pain. i just moved to chicago and was here less than a month and had my f700bt stolen...total bill of 3800 in damage. whole dash had to be replaced, window, door panel, etc. they just jammed screw drivers in and started breaking everything to get it. but it did allow me to upgrade to a z2 and viper 5901 alarm system

I just moved to a small farm town in IL. There was a bunch of reports of robberies but that's because people leave their doors unlocked.

I have full coverage so I'm hoping they would replace all my invested car audio if it ever did get stolen.

Why would anyone want sub frequencies in the mids or highs??

I just used a micro sd 8gb class 2 and it played a 800mb .avi movie with no hiccups at all.

.mp4 does not play video but there is sound

.mkv does not work at all

You can use your ipod to play movies through the USB and RCA cables.

Switch to video mode with the ipod connected.

In mp4 format, you should be able to get movies much smaller. Convert them with handbrake.

You need .mp4 for ipod anyways.

I've also heard about high speed SD cards being able to play movies well. I think 32GB SDHC works with the unit as well.

I will try with my 8gb SDHC class 4 15mb/s and let you know how movies work.

If anyone has the XM tuner, would you mind posting pictures of it in action?

I've grown bored of my 700 songs on my ipod and want to use XM radio again. I first experienced it in the rental car when we moved last year. After that I listened to it online a lot.

I will be starting a job as a delivery driver and it would be nice to have some radio that doesn't sound like crap.

Please post any and all pictures you have of XM in action.

Any reviews or feedback of the XM tuner unit is also welcome and encouraged.

I want to back the standard firmware and mess around with map updates.

I am afraid to mess around with anything in fear that the unit will become USELESS and since I don't have a warranty, I must be careful.

A link to a thread would be good enough.

If anyone is wanting to buy the SD card map updates at a lower price, why don't we all opt in for a group buy?

I would buy it for $120 and then sell it for $110, then the next person sell it for $100, etc.

a cd only has 20 songs. press next a couple times = instant shuffle

tl;dr

Stick 2 wires into the computer molex and hook it up to the head unit.

Yellow and red from head unit = yellow pin on the molex.

Black = black.

Use a digital multi meter to make sure you get the right ones though.

Where did you get it?

1. Just want audio? Use the 3.5mm plug. Want to control the ipod from the ipod? Use the 3.5mm plug.

2. My f700bt is SLOOOOOW starting up. Like over a minute. It's got windows on it...

And you don't need the official $50 pioneer cable. I bought one for $10 on ebay and it works. Link is in my signature.

Then buy another one from ebay till you get a working one.
