cmon guys, nothing really?

Hey guys, I just installed my first AVIC unit and everything seems great. Although I cant seem to find the device or "main" menu. all I know how to do is to press the "A. menu" button when listening to a CD or radio, which gives me some sounds settings but thats it. How can I access the main menu where I can change the time, wallpaper, screen settings, etc? PS- I dont have a nav DVD yet, do I need that?
