  1. Yes that's a relay. The one shown is a 5 pin relay but you can use a 4 pin relay as well. Basically the same except that there is no 87a. You can buy them from all sorts of places. It's a pretty standard relay. Don't need to worry about how many amps it will handle because you will be using it to ground. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062477 http://www.amazon.com/Tyco-Relay-SPDT-Formerly-Bosch/dp/B000P61E36 http://www.amazon.com/VDC-Automotive-Relay-SPDT-40A/dp/B0002KR9GG/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1296990698&sr=1-3 I believe you can
  2. From what I've read it seems that you might just be able to ground it. Why don't you just test it out? It's pretty easy to just ground the parking brake cable off the HU. If it doesn't work, get a relay.
  3. There might be a diode in your relay. If that's the case try to connect the blue/white wire to 85 and ground 87/86. Use a ohmmeter and verify that the relay turns on and 87/30 is then connected.
  4. I did the same thing as you said. Moved a CIF file even though the instructions say CRF. It worked for me. I used a 2GB SD card formatted to FAT32. AVH-P5200BT with AVIC-U220. Don't know what could be wrong for you.
  5. I did the AVIC-U220 bypass with a AVH-P5200BT. Here is a diagram of what I did. The colors correspond to the AVH-P5200BT but the wiring is still the same for other models (in case the colors are different)
  6. I believe what you did is wrong. The wire that is coming out below the RCA's is the purple/white that you want to use. The one out of the wiring harness... are you sure it's not purple/black and is used for the RR- speaker? I looked at both the installation manual and this picture.
  7. Just installed a AVH-P5200BT. When I make a phone call (iPhone4), I get a noise/humming in the background. It's still there even if I unplug the mic. It's pretty noticeable at volume level 10. The hum is not present if I listen to the radio, cd, dvd. Any ideas? My front L/R are run through an amp. Maybe I'll try to bypass that.
  8. Created a AVIC411 account just to say THANKS!!!! I tested everything before I ziptied all my cables and made it look neat and the unit worked. Right after I cleaned it all up and was about the slide the head unit in, no power Tore apart everything, tested voltages, continuity, even used a power supply to power the unit. Nothing... then read this and voila, it turns on again. 5 hours wasted so far, now to clean it all up again. At least I was able to save wasting another day. Thanks so much. I really mean it.
