  1. I bought my JL 500/5 amp from them. Got the amp and it was dead. The amp, like some items, are under specific warranty coverages. Mine was replaced. Read the Sonic site carefully before ordering.

  3. Problem solved. Small mix up.
  4. Well I trimmed all the cables and removed the insulation to put them all in to be sure that they were getting good contact with the amp. I got the sub working and now both front sets working but no rears still. The fronts were not working on both left/right because I had the pair connected wrong. I have them bridged and had the wires in the wrong holes. But the rears still bug me. Getting closer to the fix. The key is that when you pull stuff apart and you label the wires....take a note of the settings on the amp in the even that you move them by accident!
  5. When I get home tonight I'll go make sure that I have enough skinned off before putting the ends back in.
  6. I have the Z2 and a JLAudio 500/5 amp in my car. I broke down and took the amp to an installer to have them tweak the system after I made a royal mess of the gains and filters one day. So last night I went and disconnected the amp, the power lines, and RCAs to move the amp in the trunk and connect new brackets for the new location. Before doing so I labelled all the lines so I could put them all back right were they were. So why does the left front speaker work and sub but nothing else? I checked the speaker wires and the speakers are all working when using a D-size battery to 'pop' the sp
  7. Okay so one of my cables isn't plugged in then. I open up the pages for the install for the XM module and it shows one way. Black to blue, XM to head unit. Open up the pages for the Z2 install and it talks about something different. Black to black, XM to head unit. I think that I got lost when the Z2 papers show other stuff inline and I figured that I didn't need them so I didn't follow the path for the one cable.
  8. Data Cable? I am having the same issue but haven't called on XM help desk yet. The cable running from my module to the HU is black to blue. The XM stations work but the traffic doesn't. Is there something else that needs to be plugged in?
  9. Looking to find out where or what I should be connecting the ILL wire to in my car.
  10. Took the amp to a place on Friday and they confirmed that in fact the channels were not working. They explained that it could be very simple or that when or if the amp reaches JL, they will likely just pull the board out and send it back with a new board inside. We don't know since the vendor I bought it from will decide what to do for me. So about now the amp should be nearing its home in CA and sometime on Tuesday I should know what the vendors plan of action will be. But the great thing is knowing that my first install in over 20 years wasn't wrong! My last install was also a Pioneer Supe
  11. I have the amp and 3 authorized dealers lined up to take it to, (assuming some are too busy to do it). I also have submitted the form to the company that I bought it from to take it back and fix/replace the unit. JL will also take it back if it is proven to be a defect. I'm still within my 90 warranty on the unit. B- Time well spent last night. Thanks for taking time out of your day to help with this. When I got off the phone I tested all the other speaker leads and they all 'pop' which tells me that my connections are sound. The pity party is over and I am moving on to the trim surrou
  12. B- Take your number down. I got it. Don't know why I didn't think to ask you in the first place. Too busy kicking my own butt regretting not having this put in by someone else I else.
  13. Okay so it has been just over a week and I have gone over everything again, this making it the second complete review of my work. All the connections to the Z2 are made except for the Mute, ILL (which nobody on the porsche site knows), and the antenna adapter (which the ones that I have been told about are wrong). The car is a 2003 911, the amp I am using is a 500/5 JL. All the connections are up and running and the XM is active enough for me to get the ID off the screen. The problem that I have is that I am ONLY getting the sub frequencies and nothing else. No fronts. No rears. ONLY SU
  14. So to be clear, no RED wire if set up like it is described here?! I tried it this way that is explained and without the red wire. Nothing happened. Then I tried it the way that the paper says. Still nothing. I need to put it back as you talk about here and do a refresh at the Z2.

    amp question

But this is opposite of what the amp directions tell me. The way it reads, it is telling me that if I want fader control at the head unit that I will need to power the fronts via a different power source.
