  1. He probably got the $49.99 one, the CB100 or whatever..the one with the crappy interface. I know because thats what I bought + bluetooth adapter to get the discount.
  2. Agreed, the old one is total crap. I only bought it to make the 3 item over 50 dollar quota. If I didn't return my D3, I would have bought the new cable as everyone has suggested.
  3. Been there and done that with the cloth..actually I used a towel. Being less conspicuous is just ONE reason why I returned my D3. The D3's file browsing system wasnt up to par compared to kenwood's. I've had a person ask me what I was covering with the towel and from there on out I knew it's more a magnet than a preventive measure to put a towel draped on my dash. Anyway, I feel more comfortable walking away from my car with a single din unit than I would a double din in terms of security goes. If you don't have a problem with a double din, thats all you.
  4. I wasn't playing just copied/burnt dvds. I was "trying" to play mpeg and xvid file formats. The new 2007 kenwoods play both so I just need to find a local dealer with a 2007 in stock to verify the divx part. The pioneer requires you to modify the aVic.exe output from divx to DX50..which is a pain to do for ALL my files after having to convert them to .avi from mpg.
  5. I've sent my D3 back today and am looking to getting a KVT-819DVD single din DVD. I prefer the single din over the double due to it being a bit less attractive to thieves checking out cars quickly. I'll probably pick up the navigation unit in the near future, so $1,100 + $450-750 for the nav comes out to $1,550-$1,850 .... I reason with myself that the hideaway unit will be easier to attach things to view, ie. PS2, Camcorder to review footage, etc. My only gripe is that the screen control button no longer contains the angle controls...I hope kenwood address this with a firmware
  6. Things that made me return my D3: 1) Not able to play Mpegs 2) Can't use a file browser to view the divx burned dvd files 3) Have to jump thru hoops to get a divx/avi burned cd to play 4) No dedicated mute button Other than that, really liked the unit. Returned it to get a single din because double is too "flashy" and attractive to thieves imo.
  7. I'm returning my D3 for either a DNX7100 or KVT819DVD. Not too sure yet if I should go for the double or single din. My dilemma is: DNX7100 -Navigation -No external box KVT819DVD -Single din so less conspicuous -Cheaper -Can remove face plate to make it less attractive also -Still can show time during DVD playback (dnx won't show while fullscreen afaik..and neither can the D3) So basically its security (or less conspicuous) vs. Navigation. Been racking my brain trying to figure this one out .
  8. Yeah, you'd have to return it all.
  9. I'm considering returning my D3 for the DNX7100 to crutchfield..... The things that make me unhappy with the D3 are: 1. It doesn't play MPEGs and is picky with what files it will play (must be avi with DX50 attribute from what I've found personally). 2. Doesn't list the files on a DVD data CD like Kenwoods do which make it easier to pick a music video rather than view each one. 3. 6.1 inch screen This is my first navigation device and it totally impressed me with how accurate it was in finding addresses and directions. I haven't used a garmin product before so I hope I'
  10. Thanks, worked perfectly for me .
  11. Ty for the reply. I did the bypass but a wire isn't connecting or grounding properly, probably the mute wire as I wasn't too confident in it being secure the way I inserted it. Gonna redo it with all solder (hate the butt connectors) and I'll post back. Thanks again
  12. The harness I got for my Mazda3 2007 has a ground on it. I cut off the spade connector on the radio harness (d3) and spliced it with the harness' ground. Is this okay or should I have grounded the spade and left the car harness ground alone? My DVDs still dont play past 15 mph AND I have the improper ground warning so I'm going to go thru all the connections tomorrow and figure it all out, just looking for more input from you more experienced d3 users . Thanks for the help in advance.
