Took a road trip this weekend and noticed a weird issue. Randomly, the D3 would seem to power off, the music would shut off for 3-4 seconds, and then come back. The navigation would be off for almost a minute and a screen would come up telling me not to remove the disc. When the map would come back, it'd be off by about 40 miles and take another minute to catch back up. The unit has worked pefectly for over a year. Any ideas? I have a 2006 Jetta 2.5

Who installed it? For $200 I would expect a clean install. Maybe not hooking up the VSS or reverse wire if it was a pain, but the basic audio connections should be solid and free of interference. I would get your money back.

I did. I had a few pictures I downloaded from here, and then a bunch I created. The ones I downloaded worked fine, but the ones I created didn't work.

I tried making some custom backgrounds. When I tried loading them, I got an error. I was able to load some backgrounds I downloaded from here. I created jpegs, progressive, at 500x240. What am I doing wrong?

Its the kit. The same thing has heppened to me. I have to order a different kit. Another note about the ipod videos. I tried putting them in a playlist, but they don't show up. How did you get it to work?

I got mine installed too, I love t. I noticed that mine is bending in the middle top too, did you figure that out?>

Cool. i read a post where a guy said not to use it. it'd be sweet if the dimmer that controls the brightness of my stock unit could adjust the brightness of the D3, but i am assuming that this is not the case. it looks like the only pain in the ass will be running a 12v accessory to the fuse box on the drivers side door and pulling out the dash for the VSS wire. I think I'll try to do a DIY since there isn't a good one for the MKV jettas.

In my jetta, the illumination wire that is directly behind the dash is connected to a rheostat. Is that ok to use? or do I need to run a wire to the switch?

When you installed, did you hook the VSS and Illumination wire, and reverse? if you did, where are they? VSS I think is behind the console, but there seems to be discussion on which is the appropriate illumination wire.

I planned on it. I have the whole install planned, I just get anyone to tell me where the VSS wire is on my jetta, or what it looks like.

I just got an email saying my D3 shipped! Hope it gets here soon so I can install this weekend.

I'm going to be doing the same install in my GTI very shortly and would be much appreciated if you could explain how to use the stock antenna. Thanks in advance. When I ordered my unit from crutchfield, they sent me an adaptor. This can-bus adapter seems to do everything else.
