  1. This is probably a dumb solution. See if you can get your hands on the antenna amplifier. Originally I had the same problem, but installers blamed my tinted windows on that. They said that my antenna is built in to my rear window and since it was tinted, reception decreased. However, since they are super cool guys, they gave me a free amplifier and installed it. I had no problems with reception ever since! Give that a shot. dimaj
  2. I fixed it by doing the following: 1) Buy the cheapest headphones you can find (the once with large ear pieces) 2) Take off the foam wrapping 3) Wrap that foam on your mic The foam will remove a lot of noises. The drawback is that your mic will no longer be as sensitive. Hope this helps. dimaj
  3. First of all, Hyperite, YOU ARE THE MAN!!! Thanks for all the hard work and dedication! Mazdaspeed, if we can easily get that bypass ISO, what would stop installer from getting it? I would also assume, that this is #1 site for Pioneer navigation Q/A, so chances that installers see this are VERY high dimaj
  4. well, if you get caught, you cannot blame pioneer for this: you decided to alter the system to gain that functionality. As I've read on this site, Pioneer's sales went down through the floor when people were finding out that unit is not bypassable. So, to get back to the market, they will release some sort of a hotfix that will also "accidentally" open up a wormhole for the bypass. If you choose to use that wormhole, it's your problem and responsibility. They should not be liable at all.
  5. well... most importantly (for the most users) is to have access to the address search and so forth. These options are ALWAYS enabled via VoiceCommand (assuming that you have bluetooth unit hooked up) If you don't, you have to wait until Thursday or so. I've read on another thread in the Hacks forum that Pioneer is releasing some sort of update next thursday which will enable a 2-wire bypass. 00igloo, You installers probably did you a favor and grounded your e-brake. If they did so, you should see a warning about incorrect e-brake connection. That working pops up only when you start t
  6. Absolutely! You have a mini computer in your car! There was a thread about unit freezing on a start-up and somebody said something about a heat sensor. What I found out is when my unit got stuck, it got a HDD read error and when it was working properly, there was not read error. Somebody mentioned doing a level 4 reset (I think you have to hold map button during navigation load). This WILL ERASE EVERYTHING from your hard drive (except for maps and stuff. All private info will be gone.) That someone didn't see this problem ever since. Me on the other hand - lost everything and I got back wher
  7. The price is: $250.00 http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v3/pg/product/details/0,,2076_310069687_463566656,00.html dimaj
  8. I will chime in... I don't think that CD's can get ripped with scratches. Those CDs have digital data on them and scratch means - can't read a number. What it should do is have a retry count and if after X retries that particular bit didn't get ripped, it will tell you that CD cannot be recorded. In my case, I don't know why, it was skipping some of the songs. I have noticed that those songs were being skipped consistently with high volumes (volume setting set to 20+) After I decided to bite the bullet and reset my system (i lost all my data: telephone book, addresses, waypoints, music.
  9. Im sure thats possible..you know how it is with big companies...speak to 8 different people and get 16 different answers LOL 16??? don't you know that number of answers you get grows exponentially??? dimaj
  10. If it compares the first x seconds or minutes of a song to the current library contents, it is just plain stupid... Here's an example: I like artist A who has X albums. One of the albums is a collection of best songs and it so happens that two albums start with the same 2 songs, but then contents change... If Avic was to compare, it will not rip your second CD? That shouldn't be the case... I'm sure you already did this, but I'm just double-checking... did you create any CD-Text information on your audio CD? maybe if it sees the same CD-Text information (like CD title, instead of So
  11. alloutgraphx, check out bypassing thread under the Hacks/Mods section of this forum. There's a lot of talk about bypass there right now... you should check it every now and then... people give a lot of good ideas there. dimaj
  12. I've read on this forum that they are going to release that update disk at the end of the month...
  13. I recall somebody saying that you could downgrade your Z2 to Z1 and use Z1's bypass... Granted you are going to lose a few features (not sure which once), but at least you will have a fully functionable unit 24/7 without any restrictions. All you have to do is unlock your drive, back it up, get your hands on Z1 file system and restore it to your drive. Once it boots up, you should have a Z1 with a Z2 logo on the faceplate I'm actually seriously considering that option right now... dimaj
  14. do you think that it will be a simple software patch or they actually changed the hardware?
  15. Was this heat related again? if so, when you send it back please ask them to toast the unit for a few hours in a closed card under the sun. That's the way that I used to reproduce my freezes when they were happening. Good luck to you. dimaj
