  1. You would have to open the case and check out the main board. I wouldn't be surprised if the battery isn't replaceable since this is a relatively cheap piece of electronics and designed to never be used again if it fails. You can also check the constant 12V from the battery to see if that's providing enough power.
  2. I believe it will work as long as you can install the AppRadio App from the iTunes store along with the supporting apps then it should be fine. The iPad is just a giant iPod Touch anyway.
  3. The issue I have with the kit is that it's $100. I have a HDMI cable and all I need is the MHL adapter for my phone.
  4. All good man. As long as your problem is being taken care of.
  5. I've never cracked one of these open but is there a battery that will keep the memory settings similar to a CMOS battery on a motherboard?
  6. I'm going to try and connect my Android phone to the unit via the HDMI input and see what happens. Technically it should work without an issue even with a laptop but I guess we'll never know until someone does it.
  7. I honestly don't see why it wouldn't.I would try to get some quick disconnects on the ends of the wires you plan to connect to that switch because it seems like the internal circuit is complex and if you don't have a wire diagram of the switch you'll be confused as shit and have to revert to either a multi meter or trial and error when connecting it all together. I also don't recommend flashy switches that also light up because after all this thread is illegal in most parts of the US the same may apply in Europe as well) so to attract less attention to you from police stopping you or alrea
  8. I've noticed some connectivity issues with the app as well. I too enjoy using it more than the native iPod player but it just doesn't play videos (at least for me). I usually just disconnect my iPod, close the app and then restart it and it'll work. It's frustrating but hopefully things will get better in time. It would be cool to send a email to the CarMediaPlay people and Pioneer to see if something can be done to improve the software from an end-user's stand point and not through a software engineer's vision.
  9. Try to disconnect your iPhone/iPod Touch then close all the apps and restart your Apple device. You can also try disconnecting the car's battery for 60sec to reset the radio for sure. I would also stick to using the switch as the relay can be eliminated by firmware updates.
  10. Call up Pioneer or return/exchange. You have have a software glitch that's causing the bluetooth to malfunction; it's Windows based after all...
  11. I wasn't referring to the bypass. The reason the bluetooth is grayed out because the parking brake circuit isn't complete or the procedure wasn't completed by the individual; even though it was tapped into it. The circuit for the parking brake must be completed before the unit will even allow map, bluetooth and video functions to be performed.
  12. I just used a small SPST on/off switch from radioshack and it worked. You have to connect the green parking brake wire form the unit to one side of the switch then the other side goes to a ground point on the car. Once you do that the switch will act as your parking brake and it will connect or disconnect the circuit telling the head unit that you have applied the parking brake.
  13. Why not try wiring a switch into the parking brake wire from the unit then have it go to ground? The system works by pressing the brake once, then release then press it again. A message will pop up prompting you to do all that then you can click ok. Once that's done you can basically do whatever you want with the unit while driving as if your car was parked with the parking brake engaged.
  14. I would like to know this as well. does anyone know how to find the firmware version?
  15. The warnings are a pain. It seems like each unit is very different have you tried contacting the place you purchased it from and maybe setup an exchange or speak to pioneer about the issues?
