The unit reads every media disc I want DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL. It will also play mpeg 1 & 2 and divx files encoded on CD or anykind of DVD. OMG!!! I'm sold!

I am willing to take the hit with the DNX7100 concerning the navigation and its ipod interface. It definitely has a better video display over the Pioneers and its almost 7" and for under $1000 shipped. I'm dissapointed in the D3.

LMAO. Im guessing it was not sheer luck. But you had the Kenwood. Comfirm one thing. Just this one thing: the video was crisp on the Knewood DNX7100 or it wasn't?

wooooooooooot. lol I branched into an automobile store while waiting on my tires hoping to check out some Double Din head units and lo and behold, I saw the D3. It had been bypassed in the store so I decided to test some of my dvd media files on it. It did not read my DVD-R which had my divx music videos...I was immediately saddened. I tried it on the next Kenwood unit...It played it smoothly. The video was as crisp as my LCD TV. I decided to give the D3 another chance and I popped in an authored music video dvd I made way back and it played. The video quality was alright. Not crisp and then

fatboy was furious off that usb product. Thanks VBLUE42. I will stay away from that junk. I found something that would sort of serve my desire to use a USB HDD. The Vantec Avox. Its great and everyone seems to love it.

Necro, point very well taken. Not to stress you, but it would be great if you can upload a photo w/ the unit playing a video off the ipod. Reason is because you make it sound like the resolution becomes stretched playing on the unit and looking horrible afterwards.

Thanks for being more specific Ashhong. I am trying every means possible to be well informed on this unit before making a purchase. It seems that the mp3/ ipod feature is very adequate but the display might not be very promisiing.

I recently stumbled across this little puppy. It outputs 1080i :D . It would be very useful for mobile purposes. I'd like to think of it as a mini xbmc. :lol: A must buy!

What if I wasn't doing the driving. I could be an installer looking for feedback for a customer/friend.

It does read DL DVD+R just fine. No support with the CDI200 ("iBus" Direct Control) other then ipod. Horrible support with the USB option, its not even listed as compatible. VBLUE42, thanks for your input also. You say the USB support is horrible. By horrible you mean? sluggish / counter-intuitive or its PITA to get it working. Please I need solid answer because you own it. 95% of Best Buy dudes don't know anything about tons of the products they sell.

Thank you for your input. Okay, now that I know it will read DVD+R DL media, how good is the video quality. No one here seems to talk about it. Is it crisp? Or it could be much more better. Better still, on a scale of 1-10 what would it score.

FF2Moe, how good is the video playback quality on this Kenwood? Would you say its better than Pioneer D3?
