  1. Are you strictly using mkv as the file type for all your videos? I've never tried mkv files before but I've tried mp4 and avi, always got an error if they were above 400x240. Of course this is on a Z150, but the requirements are identical to the 8000. I was thinking of upgrading just for the CarPlay capabilities later this year.
  2. The max resolution for SD card video files is 400x240. Are you compressing the bluray files? Because I don't believe the 8000 can play 1080p SD card files. I'm surprised that the low resolution files look beautiful. I have a Z150 and the 400x240 files (half the resolution of the screen) look similar to 480p content on a 1080p TV. Looks like the 8000 has the same video file low resolution requirement as the Z150. It was the first thing I looked for in the 8000's owners manual. Same file requirement as mine
  3. Thought it was interesting that Pioneer didn't deny it. They simply said the statements about them working with Apple weren't official and were taken out of context. Still agree with you though. I don't see any aftermarket CarPlay until 2015 at the earliest.
  4. For anyone wondering, I have updated to 7.0.4 and jailbroke. Metadata (at least artist/track/album) is now showing on my Z150 when streaming Spotify via Bluetooth.
  5. I'm still on a jailbroken iPhone 5 with iOS 6 and do not get any metadata (artist/track/album info) on the screen of the Z150 when streaming via bluetooth. This happens mostly with third party apps such as Spotify. The default Apple "music" app seems to work most of the time for me but I use Spotify for all my music. Can anyone with an iOS 7.0.4 device confirm/deny that third party/Spotify/etc metadata is now working on the Z150? I've read in the past that different iOS versions causes bluetooth metadata to stop/start working and am wondering about 7.0.4 before I upgrade.
  6. Awesome news Mike! Any possibility that this new contributor will be able to work on the screen calibration issue with non-AppRadio models such as the Z150? After iOS7 is taken care of, obviously.
  7. Just wanted to post back. The port directly on the unit still would not charge the phone while using AppRadio mode. However, the drain wasn't as significant. I also tried plugging in a 2.1 amp cig lighter charging cable to the digital AV adapter while using AppRadio mode...still drained while supposedly "charging." So from what I'm seeing, there is no way to charge the phone while using AppRadio, even if you use a 2.1 amp charger. Now, I do use AppRadioExtensions so there is a possibility that it is causing my battery drain.
  8. Are you referring to the USB port directly on the back of the Z150? I was about to make a thread asking about this. I have my phone going through the 202 cable and the battery drains even while "charging." I was going to take the radio out this weekend and move the USB to the direct port on the back of the radio but wasn't sure if that would make a difference. Does the straight port have a higher amperage than the 202/IPBUS USB adapter? I think I've read the 202 only provides 500ma which is just abysmal and would explain my battery drain. If the port has 1amp or more, maybe it would actual
  9. bcsomos, could you post a picture of your USB/mini jack mount? I'm thinking of doing the same but just haven't found a good looking setup.
  10. I'm still on 6.1 and have never had Spotify track info show up on my Z150. For you all that got it working in iOS 7, even with the workaround, does the album art show up? Or just track/artist info? Just curious. But since you all confirm that it will work with iOS 7 (even if you have to do the workaround), I now have a reason to upgrade. Well, at least when they release the jailbreak for iOS 7
  11. This is how I did it many months ago and have not had any problems.
  12. I know you're on an AppRadio unit but how would you select the Chromecast on the Z150? You can't just select the HDMI input for viewing anything. I was under the impression that it is exclusively used for when the iPhone/Android phone is connected? If you can just select the HDMI anytime you want on an AppRadio model, I seriously need to rethink my next multimedia receiver.
  13. I use Spotify and never get track/artist info on the head unit. I always just put up the map screen while listening to Bluetooth because the main Bluetooth audio screen is useless without artist/track info. This is the single biggest reason I will look elsewhere for my next nav unit. Well, that and the ridiculously low resolution requirement of video files.
  14. Just to follow up, I've had both the parking brake wire and the bypass pin grounded since April. I had a few "parking brake wire is incorrectly installed" errors during the first couple weeks but it still let me change nav settings on the go, view video, etc. For months since, it's been perfect, no errors. …until last week. I got the error message again. It happened when I loaded up a DVD disc. I hadn't used the DVD slot since June or so. I had only been using SD cards with videos on them. Just weird that using the DVD slot after many months awoke the error message again. During a
  15. It's possible it may fix the whine in your case but I tried one of those. Unfortunately, it did not help my setup. I had to use a Scosche converter. Try turning off all of your lights (that you can). Like the headlights, dome lights, dash lights, etc. see if the noise goes away. Then turn them back on, see if it comes back. I found out my noise issue was coming from the dome lights and head lights.
