Hi, I am having an AVIC-D3 installed today, and my installer can't find the VSS wire. Can anyone help me or point to the right direction. I searched this forum and bimmerfest, but could only find directions to a newer 3 series, which I am not sure is the same. I know I can sign up for BMWtis.com site and look for it there, but I am not sure if I'll be able to find it in time and you have to pay $30 a day for it. Thanks!

Dman, I assume you looked in the bimmerfest forums. There is a pic of a great double din install in 5 series by some guy in Japan, it sticks out an inch, but looks OEM, he even matched the leather trim to factory dash, very nice install. Did some searching and just found out that MisFit is not a big fan of euro installs, too bad, still would be great if I found someone who would make similar bezel for a good price.

MisFit, Have you done BMW installs before? Would you be comfortable doing one in a 2002 530i (no nav or dsp)? I am looking to buy a D3, ipod, bluetooth combo. PM me if you can. If not, would it make sense for me to ask you to do a custom bezel and then install it in a pro shop? The reason is that the one they showed me in my local shop just looks too plain, and I've seen much better on the net. thanks.

How did you get it for $611? I just went to Crutchfield outlet and found the D3 listed for $999. Can you point me to the right direction? and how do you get the 15% off???? thanks.

Hello All! This is my first post and I am looking for some input on the new ipod interface/options... any comments will be appreciated. I am in the process of choosing a HU for my new car and the iPod interface is very important to me. I searched this forum and basically found out that the old interface (i100) is slow, slow, SLOW even with Z1. What I would like to know is how fast would the new (i200) interface work with the latest units like the D3. Is is somewhat faster but still slow or is it finally comparable with other options like Dice or iceLink? ( I am currently using the iceL
