  1. I see there is finally a map update for the Z2 drive based units. It looks like there is an online activation required. I've searched the threads but can't find any information on if this can be bypassed or if we must order via Pioneer. Ideas?
  2. I am looking at a 6th Gen via eBay or the unknown version on Apple.com. The refurb 80Gb ones on Apple do not have a version listed. What is the issue with 6th generation on a Z2? Those that got the Classic 80GB via apple, what firmware was on it? Thanks, Mike
  3. My XMT unit is not working on my AvicZ2 after nearly a year. It says check antenna. I've check and it is connected properly seems snug. Anyone know of replacement models that work? Pioneer has one on the site for $67!!! but not available. Any other options? Part number: CXC4683 for the GEX-P10XMT
  4. I'm having a strange issue with teh AVIC Z2 in my Charger. Recent change was the addition of a new alarm system. Added a Avitel 4400 with remote start. Everything was fine for a few days. Night mode issue was corrected with connecting a loose wire. Tonight, without warning things are off upon a fresh engine start. I started up to go to the store, no night mode (lights were on). Also, the arrow on the GPS was off, by like 45 degrees. Lasted thru a few resets and restarts. I then when in and reset the calibration. (Had gone 4400+ miles since install). Now the direction is good and arrow is
  5. I had everything working great in my car avic Z2 and all the bells and whistles were great. When car lights come on radio goes to night mode. In settings it is set for AUTOMATIC> (Other option is Day Mode). I removed the unit (Unplugged rear connectors to test a repair job on my other Z2. After all checked out, I put the regular unit back in. Everything is working, except night mode. It is weird. The setting is on Auto but when lights come on it stays bright. No wires pulled. Everything is connected. The car is a 2006 Dodge Charger. The installer said it gets the signal on the ligh
  6. As others mentioned abover try a few more times. Inmy case I unplugged the unit and tried again. Went through with no issues that time.
  7. I really do not buy the heat issue, in this case, I had driven less than 5 miles from my house, it was early am and 60 outside. I parked it in front of a store for <5min and car was in the shade. Upon restart issue happened. If it got hot, it was not due to ambient issues.
  8. I decided to try it once more. I made another CD, just in case. I wired it up again, turned on the power (I'd forgotten to remove the firmware CD), it booted to the setup, ran thru again, no errors and now works. Wow, what a surprise. I'd already power cycled and reset several times. Had planned to insert the disc at various times assuming a loop of upgrade failed" and Rebooting" taking place. Not what happened, 1st restart after disconnect worked. Not sure why it decided to break the loop and work this time, just glad it did. Thanks for suggesting to re-try. Although I was not yet i
  9. I put the z2 firmware disk in, and it started the upgrade. Things were looking good. Process seemed to be going fine, it went thru 92/92 of the files, then said the update failed, restarting. It did this a few times with no change. I took the disk out and it still boots to the same, Update Failed, restarting. Reset had no affect. Took it out and sending back to Pioneer at this point. I burned the disc per the support site and verified it. Still, update failed. Heat was not an issue. I'm in Indy and it is only 60 this AM. Car was in the garage most of the time and was in underground
  10. In the process of downloading it now. I'm not sure it will work as I have no control over the screen. Called Pioneer, they say send it in if this does not work. That stinks.
  11. My Z2 has been installed for a few months. All is well. Bypass worked like a charm and it is a great unit. No issues at all. Then, today, I have a issue with it freezing. It is frozen on the splash screen. BUT, it still plays. I can use my steering remote to change the AV to FM, XM, AM, Etc. I can also adjust the volume and play albums from the library. The display remains on the splash screen. I was parked, had a video playing. (Likely only the 2nd DVD I have ever played. I don't use this feature.). I turned the car off while the video was playing. When I open the door the car cuts
  12. I bought mine from Amazon. I think it was Electonica in the end. I checked their site and they listed it with a full US warranty. I contacted them via email and received a response saying a full US warranty is included. Based on that I went ahead and ordered it via Amazon. No problems and order was filled as expected.
  13. For what it's worth, used Roxio, slowed down the right speed and it worked fine. I did put pictures in the Picture folder. Both the backgrounds and upgrade CD worked fine in my system after burning with Roxio (Vista 64Bit PC). Only non default was slowing to 4x speed. Recommendation on 8.3 naming format is a good one. Remember, not to use spaces in any names or labels.
  14. Hey, I'm not all that familiar with photoshop. Anyone out there have time to make some nice backgrounds for the Indianapolis Colts? By the way, I like the steeler ones. Not my team, but nice work anyway.
  15. I had to have my entire system removed (Viper 5900, AVIC, AMPs etc). 1st shop did a bad install had electrical issues. Had reinstall done by a shop with a great rep and also pioneer dealer. Install is great, except I am getting the parking break error. I did do the reset, while parked. No affect on the error. I also do not have full functionality of the system while driving. Note:I did while on the previous(bad) install. I'm guessing the wiring of the parking break was not done right. I plan to copy the instructions down and have them verify/check their work in that area. Anything els
