I used the link posted earlier in this thread to go directly to the Pioneer site, and this was the link to their "authorized internet/online stores":

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... e+Internet

The other link I found was regarding those that -weren't-,or at least some form of clarification regarding online purchases and the rebate:

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... et+Dealers

So,my guess is,if it isn't on their list of authorized stores, and it is bought off the net, there is a good chance it won't be eligible for the rebate. That being said, there is also a good chance you can buy it on the internet for less than you would pay for retail minus the rebate. Shop around!

Big picture:

Pioneer claims the D3 is the biggest-selling navigation system (at least form online data referred to on the rebate page).

If that's true, why are they offering a rebate???

My theory: There are so many bugs and problems with the D3, they're getting rid of them to make room for newer models.

Given the total lack of SORELY-NEEDED software updates and WAY OVERDUE map updates for the AVIC-D3, it's starting to look like Pioneer intends to discontinue the D3 -- I don't think we'll ever see a S/W update to fix all the problems, and predict that Pioneer will stop supporting it.

I disagree completely. You're simply factually incorrect.

Tons of phones that were out for three years or more when the AVIC-D3 came out do not work properly with the CDBTB200 because Pioneer did not adhere to the HFP and voice dialing elements in the Bluetooth standard.

Just one example:

There are dozens of folks on this site who are complaining that the D3 doesn't play the voice dialing prompts from their phone, whereas all other major players in the industry don't have this problem. Even a $300 Tom Tom portable unit with Bluetooth handles the Bluetooth Hands-Free Profile (HFP) standard properly and makes the voice dialing prompts audible. My RAZR phone was out for at least three years before the AVIC, and is one of many that the D3 doesn't properly support.

I am thinking about purchasing from the site 6ave.com. How much did you pay for it? On the site currently, it is listed as $589 with "rebate already applied". They are an authorized dealer according to the Pioneer website and I am wondering if they would still honor the rebate if ordering from them?
