5th gen iPod with D3

Recommended Posts

Everywhere I read its says that everything pre-6th gen classics have no issues on the AVIC-D3. Well I got ahold of a 5th generation video iPod and updated it to firmware 1.3. Put a few movies on it and they don't play on the D3? Whats the deal with that? It says "use Ipod for full operation" (or whatever) just like it does with my 6th gen classic.

Anyone know why a 5th gen ipod wouldn't play video with the D3?

The reason you have to use the Ipod for full control on videos is an Apple firmware feature, NOT a Pioneer firmware fault. Pain in the ass, but doable once you get used to it.

Hit "VIDEO" in the upper right hand corner of the D3 when in Ipod source, then go to Ipod and scroll to movie choice and play. Make sure in Settings > TV out is turned on, and NTSC for the signal.
