Avic-N3 - PAC-SWI-PS Install

Recommended Posts

I recently just installed a AVIC-N3 unit in my 2002 Cadillac Escalade and the unit works great. I then went on advice from this forum and purchased the PAC SWI-PS unit inorder to regain my steering wheel controls. I followed the instructions and tapped into the blue wire (pin14) with the green wire from the unit and connected the ground and the switched 12v. I then went and followed the instructions to program the unit and i believe i also did that correctly. However the controls still do not work. what i wanted to know is has anybody made this work and i was wondering which wire the pac connector connects to the headunit with because i have a feeling that is why my unit is not working.

thanks

Despite being a computer and home theater geek, I know almost nothing about car audio...so forgive the dumb question, but what exactly is involved in installing this, and what functionality can I hope to gain?

I have a '08 Scion tC with the factory speaker system and the N3 installed. I was warned when I went in for my 7500 mile service that Toyota can be real dicks when it comes to Scion Warranty's so I should be careful about getting the Pac kit installed. My steering controls are just up/down, and volume up/down along with a Mode button. All I really care about is being able to skip tracks with my Ipod and controlling the volume, does that sound reasonable?

(Sorry to thread Jack)

I installed the Pac-Swips to my Avic Z in my 03 Escalade. I used the green wire and tapped into the light green wire on the left side coming out of my steering column. I set the mode to #1. Then I try to program the buttons with NO LUCK. The directions suck. Does anybody have a better step by step instructions in doing this. I will pay you $$$. Right now I have a useless 50 dollar part in my truck. Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks

Lu Scola, I had lots of issues as well until I realize that green wire on the left is the wrong wire. There is more than one green wire, its the thicker of the two. It programmed and worked flawless in my lade after that.

I programmed the prog button as my source since the source option is not up/down, i then program the source to do preset up/down.

hope this helps

I have installed a lot of these PAC steering wheel control interfaces and never had a problem. They work great every time. Anyone that is having a problem is not installing and or programming it properly. In the instructions it states that you can go on PAC's website and get specific instruction for your vehicle to make it easier.

As for sheer187 you wrote "which wire the pac connector connects to the headunit with"

The PAC connects to the headunit with a 3.5mm jack that says wired remote.
