Telezz
Well, as we all know the D3 is DivX capable. The problem is, everytime you stick a DivX movies in, the unit says "Cannot be played". This also the case for movies encoded in any other format, XviD, mkv, mpg, mpeg ect. We also need to be able to see those videos FULL SCREEN on out units. After about 2-3 weeks of research, noone was able to provide an answer on this issue. Well, I was able to discover that Pioneer put a simple DivX decoding profile and will not decode movies encoded with Divx 5.x or higher. Those are the steps you need to follow to have your D3 play DivX in FULL SCREEN. A. Download and Install Magic Video Converter 8.0.2.18. There is a serial number included. http://www.sendspace.com/file/ckxl6f B. Start the program, and select TO AVI Before proceeding with conversion, you need to setup a few options. They only have to be setup once. Choose your output folder, Click the little arrow next to profile, and click ADD. Pick a name for the profile, it will be unique to your AVIC-D3. Change Codec to DivX Change Audio Codec to MP3 Click on VIDEO TAB and make sure to change the outlined settings ! Click on AUDIO TAB and make sure to change the outlined settings ! Click SAVE ! Add a video file and click CONVERT ! Once conversion is done, burn on DATA DVD or CD and test it out ! Works for me, I coverted hundreds of music videos ! Good Luck ! eGo
Works like a charm! Only bummer is that the video files are bigger than the originals haha.. Thanks for the Write Up eGo
Telezz
Mine actually come up smaller. You can change that by decreasing the bitrate to 1000-1500 kbps. It's not too noticable.

mbtb97
I have downloaded the convertor, but it is a rar file. is there a link yp an exe file
HiFiSi
The EXE file is inside the RAR file. You need WinRAR or some other ZIP/RAR program to extract the files inside the RAR. Just google "winrar download" and there should be plenty of places you can get it.

zingZACH
can you burn multiple avi files on one dvd? I just tried and it won't work. I didn't know if there is a way to do this. I converted them the way you said, and it works if you put just one file on each cd, but I dont want to waste cds/dvds when the files are small.

Flipper
err uhm, Ive played lots and lots of DivX movies on my D3 Didn't know this was an issue for anyone The only real problem I have is that it wont play movies that are XviD. They must be encoded with the DivX codec and not any other codec If I have a movie that is XviD and I want to play it in the D3 I just use virtualdub and quick convert it to DivX. I use the menu in the D3 to change it to full screen etc when needed. Ive also put several movies on a single DVD and never had an issue. Most devices that are DivX compatible will play DivX 5 They just usually won't play any versions above 5 Which is why I have and only use the DivX 5 codec when I convert/encode movies/videos Don't know why people are having a problem with this I've never had a single issue other then the XviD issue that is I also only re-encode the video and leave the audio which is usually already mp3 audio which saves a lot on conversion time It also doesnt really take much time to convert the files either as it just repackages the video in the DivX wrapper so it has the proper flags on the file. It really doesnt have to do much to the video as long as you dont change any of the settings (frame rate, aspect ratio etc) just leave all that alone.
