pio
I know that the ipod video can do it but, I noticed that it can accept sd/usb. Is there a way around to having it play video from that?
bigPHIL18
could be wrong but i think you can attach a dvd player if wanted?

What program burns mgeg4? if you're using a USB then you don't need to 'burn' anything, just put the file on the usb drive and plug it in to the unit, same for the SD. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/Stati ... Manual.pdf that is the manual for your unit, look at page 91 for details on playing back video from USB or SD
HiFiSi
Just put the video file on the USB drive/stick or SD card. Plug it in to the unit, and select either USB or SD card from the source screen, lust like with an ipod, xm, radio, etc. Once that source is playing, you have to hit the VIDEO button at the top right to switch from audio to video mode. Of course the video has to be a compatible format. The manual will tell you what formats you can use.
pio
Thats great guys. Exactly what I wanted to hear. Now, just where will I order this unit from!
HiFiSi
Another thing to think about is you should shrink any videos down that are larger than the unit's resolution. When I was playing some video clips I had that were in a pretty high resolution, the video playback was choppy/laggy because the unit had to resize the video. But I think this only applies to videos in a USB stick or SD card. Videos in an ipod are different, because the ipod transcodes the video rather than the unit itself. pio
I currently use dvdshrink and dvd platinum. Between those two programs, I believe dvd platinum was the only one that allowed resolution changes for different devices. I'll make sure to try that out and report back to other members. HiFiSi
This program lets you take just about any format video file and transform it into just about any other format video file, as well as change resolutions. And it's free. http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html However finding the actual program download on their website is kinda like being a mouse trying to find the cheese at the center of a maze. CatchMeIfYouCan631
Hifisi, witht that program can you put a dvd in the drive and itll convert? or you need to do something else? reason im asking is i use clonedvd2 and anydvd to burn movies, but an error message comes up saying the data source is too large, if the movie is over 2 hours long. i also have a program called videora to convert to mpeg 4 for the ipod
pio
ON dvd platinum there is an option for burning a dvd to ipod format. I think I'll give that a try and report back.

It only converts existing video files. You'd have to get a program that will rip DVD's to divx or avi or mp4 files on your computer.
HiFiSi
Also, after testing some different video formats out on an SD card, the ones that will play are AVI, MP4, and WMV formats, and MPG/MPEG videos will not.
