Lu Scola
I was watching a news program and this website was talked about. They have programs that are able to down load to most GPS units & devices via a SD card. It shows icons on your navigation screen that locate red light cameras, speed traps, and usual spots where the police normally conduct laser speed detection. The website is called: http://www.phantomalert.com It would be cool to have this on your Pioneer. Anyone know if it can be done? If you go to the website watch the news video on the left side first one down.
skicrave
Pioneer has already said they will allow for the creation of POIs that can then be loaded onto the system. The problem is that although you could set them to show up on the map, you won't get a notification that you're approaching one. Unless Pioneer decides to add support for traffic cameras and the like, don't hold your breath.
Lu Scola
Even tho no sound notification, a bright logo (POI) of the cameras or speed traps would be helpful. On the Phantom website you can get all the locations of the traps and there latitude/longitude points. Especially helpful for use in your local area or region. We have alot of cameras in Baltimore. It would be useful for me.
ballsie
My European F700BT came with a years subscription to download the location of speed cameras, both mobile and fixed - does the US version not have this?
VBLUE42
You could go with a kenwood unit instead. The DNX8120 allows proximity alert for speed and red light cams. You can go to any website that host POI files and download them and install them in the DNX.
