Delayed shut down circuit

Recommended Posts

Guys..

I havent bought one of these units yet (in real turmoil.. should I/shouldnt I)

but I am feeling your pain with regards to boot time..

to reduce some of you pain..

here is a link to a very simple delayed turn off circuit.

http://www.astron.nl/~smirnov/poweroff.html

This will provide about a 10m delay before cutting the power for good.. and it also has an over ride button to kill the power instantly if you know you wont be returning to your car in 10mins

The concept seems like the right fit but i'd be worried about some stray voltage or something messing up my HU.

I think everyone needs to understand that the F series is not a "stereo" as far as boot time. It's a fully functional computer capable of alot of things and hopefully with firmware updates the boot process will get a little better. Sleep mode? :P

there is no way this will damage the stereo.. because all the stereo see is a direct 12v feed from the batery into the ACC line via a relay.

This is eactly the as it is current except that instead of the timer circuit controling a relay, the ign switch will be controling a relay in your cars existing wiring loom.
