HOW TO: Add Branded POI icons :UPDATED: 04-21-09

I copied this file over and went to do a search for POI's and it wouldnt generate anything, 0 results....

 

Im really tired of driving around and seeing nothing but bread and default gas stations.... someone help!

Most of these you have to set the icons for the POI.

I noticed that more came up, but how do you add individual businesses to specific POI's? Like restaurants.... how would you get down to the specific restaurant to add the one POI to?

Franchises... Starbucks and Safeway are right by my house... all I see are bread symbols. Not "new" businesses per say. I live in Seattle... there should be a Starbucks showing up on every other block

As I said, you have to select the icon you want for the POI in the MANAGE POI screen.

My question is, how you get down to the specific restaurant chain in the manage POI section? I just see a vague POI....

 

Restraurants > American, then I can only edit the "american" one... I guess what Im asking is what category do they fall in.

Touch the category (American) and it will display the names of the restaurants it has. There you will edit the visibility on the map and select the icon you want.

Worked great. For some reason I was thinking of the pioneer.ini file I just didn't want to overwrite something I had already added. So is there a way to add more to the list of poi icons? or just the whole file as it gets upgraded by the "maker"? Like could I make my own small icons and add them as I go? I thought I saw an option like that.

It is possible but it is quite involved.

Software Version: 3.0

SD card: Kingston SDHC card 4gb

 

Here's what I did:

1. Download the Branding.zip file in the root of my SD card.

2. A 2.3 Testmode folder in the root of my SD card.

3. Put the card in and boot into CEmode.

4. Copy the Branding.zip file into myflash/apl2/iGo

5. WinCE prompt a message ask me if I want to replace/override

6. Yes, and it spent less than 1 minute to copy.

7. Close the window and turn off the unit by turn off the car ignition(ACC)

8. Restart the unit without any SD card insert

9. Go to Map Visual Setting POI

10. In fast food section I found McDonald with logo as well as Burger King.

11. Adjust it to Medium

 

Am I doing this correct VBLUE42? I assume this is the update version since I can see McDonald POI now.

Hi. This might be an issue that came as a result from loading the branding.zip onto my F700bt. Even if it is not, mayby someone out there will know what this is:

I'm getting a "ding-dong" sound for no apparent reason while driving....

 

If anyone can tell me why the unit is playing this sound, and a possible way to keep it from happing, I would be very greatful.
