AVH-P4000 and no sound at all!!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys!

I installed this unit over the weekend.. But maybe you should be aware of my system before i get into my dilemma..

Kaption Components, Rockford rears, polk/momo c-400 975w amp, rockford 900w (for sub?) and an 8inch sub..

So, I got this unit all installed last night, fired it up, and everything works, but there is no sound from speakers.., I had plugged in the RCA cables that were in the back of my sony WX4500x, (just one pair of RCA, black and red..) and nothing happened.

I concluded that although I have an amp, my speaker wires must all be connected into the wiring harness, since it seems that the speaker wires were not terminated on the old harness, but they go from the harness, and are split into 2 sets (fronts and rears I assume) and go into 2 seperate "Impedance Adapters" (little box that has ohm adjustable screws in it, speaker wires go in, and RCA female wires come out..)

After these impedance boxes are the previously mentioned Female RCA cables (red and black for each box..) and they are connect to a set of male RCAs each.. these just disappear into the original cars wiring harness i think, and vanish..

So I connected the avh-p4000s harness speaker wires to the original wires that are before the little "impedance adapters" and figured this would make everything hunky-dori.. NOTHING!! And I even plugged in those other RCA that came out of the other headunit.. I assume its for the seperate amp/sub.

Can someone give me some advice?! I don't want to take it to futureshop if I don't have to... I'm about to go and hook up a speaker directly to the harness to see what is up!

Edit: Hooked up a speaker to the harness (spliced white & white stripped black) and connected the speaker to it, worked fine! I even hooked up the old headunit to make sure everything after the impedance adaptors were working! And they were!!!

did you hook up the amp turn on wire? its normally a blue one that runs to the amps and connects to the radio. every time your turn on the raido, it tells the amps to turn on. on the pioneer, its a blue/white wire. also the boxes you are referring to are line out converters. those are used if rca outputs are not available on the radio.
