gilster85 Posted September 20, 2006 Report Share Posted September 20, 2006 Does anyone have any experience in hooking up a avic-z1 in a 2002 avalanche that has a 1 1/2 DIN opening? Any suggestions on how to make it fit? Also i have a manufactured july 2006 avic-z1 would the grounding 2 wire bypass work? does this method really work? it just sounds too easy. cntrylvr79 Posted September 20, 2006 Report Share Posted September 20, 2006 Yes it does work. As for the dash thing you have couple options. You can get the dash piece from an 03 and fit it with no problems or you can trim the dash you currently have. The first option is more expensive, but will yeild a much better look. I have yet to see anyone modify the din.5 opening to fit a double din and have it look stock. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
gilster85 Posted September 21, 2006 Author Report Share Posted September 21, 2006 I was told the 03 dash trim will not fit in my 2002 avalanche since the 03 has the dual climate control a/c control and its smaller than the ordinary a/c control piece in the 2002. And if i put the 03 trim on theres a small bar that would cover my a/c controls. Is this true? Quote Link to post Share on other sites
