N2 noise with RCA connection to ipod

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I came across ipod RCA cable for next to nothing and I have decided to give it a try by connecting it to the N2 hide away unit. I have RES and it is set up to view from n2 and my n2 can see what's playing in RES. I bought three Y adapters to run all the wires. The only way I can see and hear my ipod was to power on my RES and selecting aux input. Now the problems: the video quality is very poor. I know it's not the RCA wire as when I connect my ipod to my tv, it looks great. The worse thing that I have noticed is the noise- it sounds like alarm clock going off with fast beep, beep, beep, beep,(pause), beep... beeping noise only gets louder as I turn up the volume. Am I doing something wrong here? Any feedback would be much appreciated. Anton

I have the N4 with the iPod adapter but I had a similar issue with noise. I always had noise and I thought it was the iPod cable. I have a 30GB video btw. I figured out it was the backlight on the iPod creating the noise. Everytime the backlight shut off I had noise. I went to the options and made the backlight never shut off. No problems since.

Try it, it may help.

Hi Jimmy,

Thank you for your input.

I've tried connecting the ipod alone and I still have the same beeping noise. I have ordered the noise filter and it just lower the ipod volume without affecting the beeping noise. What I have notice is that when I select the AV, even my ipod was not connected, I can hear the noise. I have never had any issues playing RES or playing DVD from the head unit.
