Guest
I am getting my Avic d2 and nav traffic put in monday. When I asked about doing the bypass, they told me I would have to have a PAC TR7 module to bypass it, and it module is $30 plus $100 to install. ??? Sounds crazy to me after reading this thread and since all the web info says the module is only for Alpine bypassing...?
whtcrxghst
They are confusing your unit with Z1 bypass. For the D2, all you have to do is ground the brake and insert a wire in the open hole in the harness and ground that wire too
I am getting my Avic d2 and nav traffic put in monday. JasonH
Yes, I don't know what everyone is talking about. Guest
Insert just, any wire into an empty hole in the harness and tie that to ground? Just want to be crystal clear when I go in - I suck at car stereo installs. Thanks guys, this information is awesome.

Just make sure it contants with the harness pin and is secure.

Pull any unused (spare) wire from the connector, (c/w pin connector) insert it into the blank position above. Then ground it & parking brake wire
Guest
Worked like a champ. Thanks guys!
Guest
What about Speedwire then, I should do nothing about it?
whtcrxghst
For the best accuracy and better navigation in areas with no satellite reception, hook it up. If not, don't bother
What about Speedwire then, I should do nothing about it?

sbkim
Again, thanks for the great info on this forum. Unfortunately, my install guy refuses to do this mod for me. However, he says he can leave this so it's easier to do the mod - whatever that means. I presume it will be easier to ground these two wires near the headunit vs. somewhere else? Also, he mentioned that I need a relay to make it work with my D2... I know most of you guys made it work without a relay/switch. Thanks
whtcrxghst
You don't need a relay
Again, thanks for the great info on this forum. fflores

Would you please describe the installation of the 528t pulse timer (connections, etc)? That sounds like exactly what I need! Since you suggest it requires a pulse timer, I assume that a straight grounding of the parking brake will not work? Have you confirmed that it will only work it the ground occurs AFTER boot of the system? THANKS!!!!!!
Yes, I initially just grounded the parking brake wire and occasionally I'd either get the error message or the video/navi would not show up. So here's how to wire up the 528t. Red goes to Constant 12v. Black goes to ground the blue loop of wire cut and isolate the ends. Black/white goes to the accessory wire Yellow goes to ground orange goes to the parking brake wire of the avic. What will happen is when you go to start the car, the accessory wire will get power for a second and then lose power when the start goes to crank. That will cause the 528t to activate for the amount of time that the dial is set to. once it deactivates it will reconnect the yellow and orange wires, grounding the parking brake wire and allowing you use the full navi and video display. Mine has been wired like this for almost a year now and not once have I had a problem since I put the 528t in.
You have described EXACTLY what happens with my D2... I have a 07 Scion tC.. .and i have done the bypass is it is most commonly done... ground and adding the pin in the open slot, we just did it last night, and it worked like a champ... but this morning, the D2 would give me the error and would reboot over and over... Does anyone have any more information on this "Pulse Timer"? where can i get it?
