Does the harness stay the same? I guess what I am asking is will I have to have it re-installed again or could I take out my current Z3 and just hook up my connections to the new Z?

No, it has a new harness.

wow, i REALLY want this. It really sucks that the MSN direct turner is optional though. I have no more room in my dash as it is with my F900 and the HD tuner, SWI, CANBUS adapter, etc. If MSN direct was integrated into the HD tuner, that would be great.

Is this thing still running iGO like the F & X? It doesn't look like it, but i thought that this was supposed to be running the same basic programming as the X?

The OS looks to be similar, but the nav software looks like an upgraded version of Pioneer's inhouse nav software from the older Z series. Can't wait to see this thing in action. I probably won't get it right away if at all since I really want 3.0 to work out well, but time will tell.

I like the new Z but I have to say I am going to wait and see what everyone says after they install it. Been down this road before getting caught up in the hype and all and then there are like tons of bugs. One thing I have learned is Pioneer does not do enough real world testing. Just my .02 cents. Will be waiting for good post after installs I hope.

Jason one more questions can we still use XM nav traffic instead of the MSN deal?

I wouldn't be afraid of being an early adopter of the Z. All the bugs/BS from the F series were due to Pioneer outsourcing the whole software end to another company. The bugs/slowness were probably a result of overseas programmers who probably never even used a GPS or even owned a car. This time around, Pioneer has rewritten the entire code for all the units in house, just the same as the older Z/D/N series had been. Those were all relatively bug free upon release compared to the F series. Also from the 20 minutes of combined footage of the Z series in use thanks to Jason, we know that in the real world, the Z: Boots up in about 15 seconds, the screen brightness in real world conditions is pretty damn great, the voice control works fantastically, button presses/screen response is extremely snappy, and everything seems to work as advertised out of the gate, as it should. I think that Pioneer has learned a lot of valuable lessons from the F series and are doing everything possible to help rebuild their damaged reputation and recoup the losses taken due to the F series.

Also, you'll probably be able to use the XMNavTraffic tuner, but only as a plain XM tuner on the IP bus connection. The new version of the nav software is made to use traffic and weather from MSN only. I WISH they gave the option for NavTraffic. I had it on my Kenwood 8120 and loved having all the info at all times in all locations.

Thanks for the info... yea I hear on the Pioneer issues, but I still will wait and see. When I bought my Z1 it was one of the first and the heat issue got me and then the first map update took like 3 hours to do and I have to push retry like 1000 times to get the update to work it was horrible.... Now that I am at the Z3 level software it seems to work perfect and I use it all the time.... but the new one looks to be even more better. Anyone use MSN traffic now in Houston, TX if so what do you think of it?
