Been reading over the manual, and that spec jumped out at me. Page 210.

I'm a noob to this stuff, but my smallest USB drive is 160GB. And there are 32GB SDHC cards out now.

Is that a hard limit? Have past Pioneer head units had similar limits?

That sounds like a software setting. I bet we could find a way to change it too.

I am have a Pioneer FH-P800Bt receiver and am using a 250GB USB hard drive with it. I want to upgrade to a Z110BT so I hope there isn't a 16GB limit as the manual says. I'll stick with my P800 if it is true.

Wow I didn't notice that before. I hope that is incorrect or changeable. This and the note "Operations may vary depending on the kind of an external storage device" makes me wonder if the USB port will be compatible with only flash/jump drives and not HDDs. I really don't know enough about USB to know if this is really concern.

I am hoping this is one place they use there note at the end of that Appendix.

I'm assuming the Z is similar to the X which is similar to the F- and on the F-Seires the unit boots up in a particular order and checks the USB and SD for files- so maybe that's why it's limited to 16GB?

I phoned Pioneer Canada this morning and asked a tech how big a hard drive we can use with a Z110 or X910. He is going to get back to me.

Pioneer hasn't gotten back to me so I went to a local electronics store with my 250GB Western Digital HD loaded with 230GB of .wav files. They only had the AVIC-F900BT hooked up and it worked with the HD no problem. It's manual says it has a Max. capacity memory of only 2GB so hopefully we don't have to go by the 16Gb limit on the Z110BT

Hi guys I'm new to these forums and am looking to get the new Z110 (dont think is't called that here in England) the only dissapointing thing for me was they have done away with the hard drive, I didnt realise that I could hook up a external usb hard drive, (having still got my original AVIC-X1) so this is good news for me thanks

On Saturday I took my 250GB WD hard drive filled with 230GB of .wav music files to test it on the Z110BT and X910BT. The hard drive fired up ok on the Z110BT but it only showed some of the files. The manual says it can handle up to 500 files with USB and it looks like that is true. With the X910BT it worked much better. Every file showed up. The manual says it can handle unlimited files. I really wanted the Z110BT but for this reason I bought the X910BT. I'd love to know why the Z110BT is the top of the line but is so limited with the USB.

Just checked the UK version F10 and it states that it has the same limits 16GB on both SD card and USB external device's page 167 that said 16GB = 500 albums or 32 hours of video !!!
