vijaja
Here's the parts I have: - AVIC-Z1 - Scosche Dash Kit (Ebay Link) - ND-BT1 - CD-SR1 Car: 2006 Hyundai Sonata GLS, no premium sound Issues: 1) Just checked the fit of the unit itself and there is a bit of space between the existing hole and the AVIC unit itself. Not so much on the left and right, however definitely on the top and bottom. Am I supposed to also buy a cage for the Z1 or just wedge some wood pieces and make do? 2) There is a metal piece that protrudes from the base of the radio space which the stock headunit "locked" into. How do I work with that to install the unit? Thanks a lot.
cntrylvr79
That kit is iso mount for double din which means you would not use a cage. As for the rest, a picture would help if that's possible.
vijaja
I'll post one later tonight. Thanks!
kevin22
I just completed the install in my 2006 LX Sonata. The Scosche Dash Kit that you bought is the same one that i used. The metal clip that protrudes from the factory radio will not be needed. I tried to incorpate that into the AVICZ1, but the AVIC needs to go further back. The unit will rest on the piece of metal (not the metal clip) and will be held by side plates that come with your Scosche kit. I didn't feel to comfortable about the way the unit was resting on the metal piece so i duck taped the metal piece for cushion. As far as the extra room on the top and bottom, I used foam to fill in the bottom, which also helped to cushion the metal piece in the back. I didn't use foam on the top because i didn't think it was needed. Hope this helps.
