if you have a f700bt that has been upgraded to the v.3.0.1 software should we be posting here???

 

if so, let me give you my thoughts on 5 days with the upgrade...

 

i think it is a tremendous upgrade from the f series..i could not be happier especially since i did not have to dole out 120$..how could pioneer have the audacity to ask people who paid full price for a product that everyone including themselves had so many issues to deal with???it is mind boggling...

 

the x700 fixes MOST of the issues that i had before..although i never had that many issues with my f..the biggest issues i had were too many warnings on when to turn, boot up speed, and if you made several bt calls in a quick row, the machine would start to mis operate sometimes..also on voice control the contact names had to be said backwords, the x series fixes this..

 

i love the new maps, buildings, hwy signs and sounds of the x..the hwy signs are awsome, in fl where i live, i have to travel all over the state and some junctions can be very confusing...this is a big big help...samantha still warns me WAAY TOO MUCH!!!gosh i wish you could set how much you need to be warned..4 times in a quarter mile is annoying...the buildings are sooo cool...i brought up my origional hometown of baltimore and the whole inner harbor is there..even the ravens stadium has purple seats!!!!

 

menus are much much more responsive..sometimes i'd hit a button and it would respnd .5 seconds later on my f. now it's spot on...i love the way the smaller screen comes up on bt calls and the look of the maps and the xm station ads..very cool!!!

 

ok couple questions, i have a palm pre and the bt works perfect..can i get samantha to alert and read text messages..it says i should but i don't get any alert, let alone her speaking it...

 

my voice control button only works if i am on ipod...if i am listning to xm or radio and i press the silver button in, nothing, but if i am listening to my ipod, it works perfectly..weird..anybod have that issue???

 

overall i would have given the f series a 6/10..if everthing worked properly it would have been a 9...the x series of i give a 8.5..if everything worked perfect i would give it an 11 as i think it is a bit better of a unit overall if everything worked flawless on both units...

 

very good job pioneer but shame on you for trying to drain more money out of people who already paid good money for a unit that could have been dubbed beta...

The ability to read text messages using Samantha is only supported on a handful of phones, most of which I recall being Motorola. Someone posted a link to a PDF on the forum a while back that lists of each phone and what it can and can't do on the F-Series. Do a little digging, it should still be around here somewhere.

 

As for the price of the 3.0 update, it includes maps. Most map updates I have seen were north of $120 for other units, so it's really not that unreasonable. Still a bummer, but oh well...
