I have and it's an imporvement but still does not show on all angles.

you have to play with the values of the the numbers highlited in red

[clip_planes]

; mode, lower bound, upper bound, lower value, upper Value

; mode: 0: by zoom level, 1: by number of cells, 2: by intersect value (0..45)

; values: 0.0 .. 1.0 * 1000 (= 0..1000)

faded_buildings_near = 0, 10, 200, 600, 600

faded_buildings_medium = 0, 10, 200, 650, 650

faded_buildings_far = 0, 10, 200, 750, 750

solid_buildings_near = 0, 95, 100, 1000,980

solid_buildings_medium = 0, 95, 100, 1000,980

solid_buildings_far = 0, 95, 100, 1000,980

landmark = 0 , 1, 50, 1000, 1000

road0 = 2, 0, 40, 1000, 750

road1 = 2, 0, 40, 1000, 800

road2 = 2, 0, 40, 1000, 900

road3 = 2, 0, 40, 1000, 1000

roadsign = 2, 0, 40, 1000, 950

;a ket reszletesebb terrain

terrain0 = 0, 30, 30, 750, 750

terrain1 = 0, 30, 30, 850, 850

;reszletes shapek. Mivel lassu, ezert ne vigyetek tulzasba.

shape0 = 2, 1, 10, 1000, 0

Does anyone know which numbers to change to make street labels show further in the distance?

I have changed them and have not seen any change yet.

I'm running with something like this:

[clip_planes]
; mode, lower bound, upper bound, lower value, upper Value
; mode: 0: by zoom level,
; 1: by number of cells,
;       2: by intersect value (0..45),
; 3 by camera tilt angle (0..100 from totally flat to top-downview)
; values: 0.0 .. 1.0 * 1000 (= 0..1000)

faded_buildings_near   = 0, 10, 200, 600, 600
faded_buildings_medium = 0, 10, 200, 650, 650
faded_buildings_far    = 0, 10, 200, 750, 750

solid_buildings_near    = 0, 95, 100,  1000,980
solid_buildings_medium    = 0, 95, 100,  1000,980
solid_buildings_far    = 0, 95, 100,  1000,980

landmark = 0 , 1, 50, 1000, 1000

road0 = 3, 20, 70, 930, 1000
road1 = 3, 20, 70, 950, 1000
road2 = 3, 10, 75, 970, 1000
road3 = 3, 0, 100, 995, 995
roadsign               = 2, 0, 40, 1000, 900

;a ket reszletesebb terrain
terrain0 = 0, 30, 30, 750, 750
terrain1 = 0, 30, 30, 850, 850

;reszletes shapek. Mivel lassu, ezert ne vigyetek tulzasba.
shape0   = 2, 1,  10, 1000, 0

I believe Roadsign is the value you want changed.

Can anyone better explain what the lower and upper values mean? I don't understand why the "upper" value is lower numerically than the "lower" value.

And what exactly is intersect mode? Why not use by camera tile angle?

Thanks,

Ceger

I wish I knew. It's one of those things that NavNGo makes available, but does to tell you what it does exactly. The only thing you can do is play with it and tweak it to your liking.

Are the numebrs listed the ones you are using or just an example? If so, how do you like it?

those are the numbers i'm using and it works very well with how i have my zoom and tilt settings are set up

Where do you change those and have them stay? Is there a numerical vaule that you type in?

maybe I'm completely misreading your post above (see Aug 20, 2009 1:01 am). Looks like what you are saying is that the settings given (in planes_clip.ini) work with how you "zoom and tilt settings are set up". From what I was understanding, ZOOM and TILT are how you set up your map using the knob (maybe it is contained within the planes_clip.ini).

What I'm asking is how do you store your ZOOM/TILT? I think zoom is under max out in the GPS settings menu, but where is tilt?

....or maybe I'm completely misunderstanding!

I have played with the clips ini file and the sys.txt to no avail. I am running 3.02 with IDT 3.0 v3 and I cannot see any streets in 3d mode unless I zoom in close. My default tilt value is 7000 (in sys.txt) I even went extreme with the clips_plane.ini and couldn't see anything although i did have an out of memory message/reboot. here's my clip and sys files. I hope someone can help.

The values are skewed because I am assuming that the values are based on drawing distance. I'd appreciate any help.
