maddog hoek
I played with this last night for a bit and found the following out. Some info is definitely a repeat of previous info but I just want to throw it out again. 1) The clip_planes.ini file only supersedes schemes that do not have a color3d.ini file included with them. Pioneer blue and red have these files. 2) I was able to make the roadsign= values work at 2, 0, 40, 1000, 1200. The last variable seems to work with the 'altitude' that you are zoomed in at. My 3d_zoom_max(?) variable in my sys.txt is currently set at 1500. I am going to set it to 1200 to try to narrow down my setting. 3) in the roadsign= 2, 0, 40, 1000, 1200 variable I tried working with the '40' variable. My thought process was that it only allowed labels up to the bottom 40% of the screen. (that's what my screen looked like anyway) nope that's not the case. I have more to do on this one. My next step is to create 10 schemes with different roadsign values so that i don't have to keep running back and forth to my computer and to save time on bootups. I figure that I will just copy a scheme and rename it internally to the test name.
maddog hoek
I was able to create 10 test Pioneer Blue schemes with 10 variables. I am still testing them but I'm not getting much of a difference in labels. I will post specifics soon. The only variable that showed a difference at my default zoom level was 0, 0, 40, 1000, 1000. Everything disappeared on this one. More info to come.
Harvey_Gordon
Thanks. Just letting you know someone is following your progress. I thought maybe (after a 5 day silence) you had given it up. Glad to know you're still pursuing this.
BigLou58
Is it just me or did this work SOOO much better in version 2.0?
jfeld
I was able to create 10 test Pioneer Blue schemes with 10 variables. maddog hoek
I'm still looking at it. I'm an avid motorcycle rider, so I haven't had much time in my truck. These are the modified settings that I am using with the extra Pioneer Blue Day schemes. 1) 2, 0, 30, 1000, 1000 2) 2, 0, 50, 1000, 1000 3) 2, 0, 70, 1000, 1000 4) 2, 0, 40, 600, 1000 5) 2, 0, 40, 750, 1000 6) 2, 0, 40, 900, 1000 7, 2, 0, 40, 1000, 1500 8, 0, 0, 40, 1000, 1000 9) 1, 0, 40, 1000, 1000 10) 2, 0, 40, 1000, 500 So far mode 10 has killed all labels regardless of zoom. All other modes have not shown much of a difference. I will post my sys.txt when I get home from work tonight. Combined with setting smartzoom to 700ft everything seems to be good for me. I will also post pics too. It will probably be very late because of the kid's football practice and tuck in time.
07trblzrSS
I'am using this diaftia's 6 in 1 i can see fair amount of streets at 800ft. road0 = 2, 0, 40, 1000, 1000 road1 = 2, 0, 40, 1000, 1300 road2 = 2, 0, 40, 1000, 1400 road3 = 2, 0, 40, 1000, 1700 roadsign = 0, 0, 2000, 1000, 2000
BigLou58
I've been using the color scheme Old-School-Day from Buckeye , and it seems to be working fine. I get quite a bit of detail in 3D. When I tried to use the night version, however, it crashed my system (one of the .spr files). I'm not savvy enough to figure out which setting is off. Anyone else want to try their hand at it?
abefroman
Have any more updates been done on this?
maddog hoek
not really, I kinda' got it where I wanted with the smartzoom. I will revisit this soon because I want to try some sky mods. I don't have any sky visible with my current tilt values but as soon as I tilt it, I lose street names. All of the schemes that I played with where for naught. These are some of the values that I played with... This is my current setup. [3d_config] roadsign_lines_per_screen=23 'This made the text smaller' [map] 2dheadup=1 zoomfactor=110 3d_tunnels=1 show_oneway=1 3d_max_tiltlevel=7100 3d_max_zoomlevel=1500 'The tiltlevel and zoomlevel are in combination with my smartzoom' [clip_planes] ; mode, lower bound, upper bound, lower value, upper Value ; mode: 0: by zoom level, 1: by number of cells, 2: by intersect value (0..45) ; values: 0.0 .. 1.0 * 1000 (= 0..1000) faded_buildings_near = 0, 10, 200, 600, 600 faded_buildings_medium = 0, 10, 200, 650, 650 faded_buildings_far = 0, 10, 200, 750, 750 solid_buildings_near = 0, 95, 100, 1000,980 solid_buildings_medium = 0, 95, 100, 1000,980 solid_buildings_far = 0, 95, 100, 1000,980 landmark = 0 , 1, 50, 1000, 1000 road0 = 2, 0, 40, 1000, 750 road1 = 2, 0, 40, 1000, 800 road2 = 2, 0, 40, 1000, 900 road3 = 2, 0, 40, 1000, 1000 roadsign = 2, 0, 40, 1000, 950 'This is the clip_planes section from the 'Easy' scheme that I use most of the time' It is no different from the stock scheme that IDT has in his mod. I believe my zoom is 700ft. Try my settings and see if you like them. You will not see any sky. The jury is still out on whether I want to give up the screen real estate just to see some stars and such. I'll see soon enough, I've seen some good stuff here. Hover-Shuttle
Bump... any new results???
maddog hoek
nope, not really. Try entering 'fov=55' in your sys.txt in the debug section. This was found by someone else and seems to work well for me. You might want to play with the values depending on your zoom settings.
