Microphone quality

I guess being last does have it's advantages sometimes. I just bought one of these u310's and my mic gain was terrible. After reading all these complaints, I called Pioneer and their tech said they were randomly haveing mic issues and they would send me another. We'll see.

Do i need to uninstall (take out the radio) and reinstall, if I need to replace the Pioneer Mic with new garmin one. I have my install scheduled for tomorrow and this Mic not available in local stores in Delaware. Is it easily pluggable from outside after the install? thanks

It is behind the radio, and do not think Microphone can be replaced without taking out the head unit, unless you have open access to area behind the head unit. ( most cars do not).

i purchased the garmin mic because the mic that comes with the headunit really sucks but i wanted to get a opinion what is the best place to put the mic.

Chinna, which Garmin microphone did you get? Can you give us the model# or a link to the one you purchased? Also, how does the Garmin work in your opinion?

Yes, the Pioneer is almost useless, and garmin microphone is usable and good.

But, it seems same one sold by Amazon and several other vendors. If you see the shape you will recognize it (Kenwood, Clarion, Parrot all use same Microphone).
