Nicest looking and best quality dash trim kit?

Recommended Posts

Anyone have a suggestion for their favorite quality and nicest looking dash trim kit for the X910BT? I have a 2008 Nissan Altima sedan. I know there is a lot of difference between kits with some looking cheap and plasticky with poor fit and finish all the way to nice quality and aesthetics that blend in well with the dash.

I read about this kit on a nissan forum:

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=getLocator&siteid=214258&chapter=ARF3746&appSectionid=2610&groupid=4805&subgroupid=4599&componentid=16793&make=25&model=Altima%20sedan&year=2007&graphicID=3746340&callout=15&catalogid=2

But can't really see it to tell how "factory" it looks. Most of the other kits I've seen are just black plastic which might be fine, but won't blend with the factory look of the dash.

Any feedback on a brand based on people's experience would be appreciated!

This forum has a ton of help for the altimas:

Also, don't buy the aftermarket metra or whatever kits. Nissan makes an OEM dash kit that matches the color and texture of your dashboard. I ordered mine through the Nissan dealer parts direct. Depending on the type of A/C controls that you have, you'll have to order the correct part. For manual A/C controls, they sell a double-din dash kit which fit snugly around the manual A/C controls.

For the dual-zone auto, you'll probably have to order the factory nav dash kit which doesn't fit the AVIC perfectly, but will work.

The OEM dash kit is far better than anything else I have seen. and it's pretty much the same price.

OEM Nissan Factory Bose/Navi panel (only factory option for people with auto climate controls, Requires you to fill space on the edges of the radio/screen since the factory navi is wider than a double din.)

dahwang, thanks for the reply. I did purchase the double din (68260-ja00a) part you referenced above and waiting for it to arrive. It was confusing because everyone said to buy it for aftermarket double din stereo but when I called nissanparts2u they indicated their parts are all OEM Nissan. It was not clear to me that Nissan actually made a part for aftermarket stereo installs!??!? So, I think I got what I need for the trim piece because I want to install a double din stereo and I have manual A/C controls. Did you use this to install a double din aftermarket stereo and, if so, any pictures so I can see how it turned out?

Thanks for the forum reference as well. It's always helpful to read about other peoples' experiences. I prefer not to learn the same lessons the hard way whenever possible :D

i have a f900bt installed. Only took about a few hours to do, since we had to rewire the harness for more pins, but i did all my research beforehand. I bought the dealer part just like you mentioned, but i bought it from the dealer since the shipping was free and it was about the same price.

As far as pictures, there are quite a few people on this forum in the F-series area that have altimas with the f900/f90 installed. If you need them, pm me.

just make sure you ordered the wiring harness adapter as well as the radio antenna adapter since nissan uses a proprietary harness for the antenna. if you have more questions run a search, and if you can't find it, let me know.
